Very unfriendly treatment. A long waiting time. Like every summer, once again we visit Lucerne. The city is wonderful, and the customer treatment is exceptional in most of the places. On August 24th this year, we decided to try a different restaurant for dessert and coffee (perhaps also to stay). And, here I leave you the unpleasant surprise. My family and I were treated very badly by the waitress Monica(?). She was rude, she refused to offer ice-cream. Perhaps to avoid cleaning the table before dinner? or because the order came from an old German lady? Language is not a barrier, because it was German spoken by a German citizen with "Hochdeutsch". And, the restaurant was open for customers! The situation was unpleasant. As we could not order any of the ice-creams advertised on the menu, we decided to drink cappuccino coffees. Minutes later, one of my family's member approached another waitress showing the selection of ice-cream available on the menu, and asked when it would be available to the public? The answer was "it's available". Thus, this second waitress served us ice-cream and coffee. However, Monica(?) removed the tablecloths and napkins from our table. Aren't three cappuccinos and three large combinations of ice-cream from the menu worth keeping the table with napkins and paper doilies? A polite treatment cost nothing, and can attract many tourists. Being rude closes doors, in my case you lost a family that besides desserts was checking a possible...

Disappointing Beef Stroganoff – Completely Incorrect Dish

My wife and I ordered the Beef Stroganoff at this restaurant. It’s our favorite dish, and we try it in restaurants all over the world whenever it’s on the menu. Beef Stroganoff is traditionally made with thin strips of tenderloin stewed in a creamy sour cream sauce.

Instead, we were served cubed meat stewed in a tomato-based sauce. The flavor was much closer to a Hungarian goulash, with pieces of sweet bell pepper, paprika, and spices typical of Hungarian cuisine. We almost sent the dish back immediately, but decided to try it first. Unfortunately, it was a completely unacceptable substitution for Stroganoff. It’s like ordering pasta with Alfredo sauce and getting French fries with ketchup instead.

I give the chef a zero for this dish.

That said, I want to note the good service, the attractive interior design, and the nice touch of serving fresh bread...

Wow, just wow! My husband and I ventured into the Swiss Chalet and we were more than impressed! They were so kind to let in dine even though the kitchen had already closed. We both started with the barley soup and it was like no other beef and barley I’ve ever had. It was creamy but also light. A perfect start to our meal. Then I had the Corn-fed chicken breast and my husband the beef stroganoff. I’ll start with the chicken- one of the best chicken dishes I’ve ever had. The gravy… I could drink it. The whole dish was absolutely divine! For the stroganoff, this is not your typically creamy mushroom dish. This was BETTER. A vegetable style red sauce with larger chunks of tender beef, topped with a dollop of cream. Absolute perfection. Also, the atmosphere, so cute, cozy, and what you imagine a Swiss chalet to be! We had the greatest experience here and this spot definitely is going in my travel notebook to...

Every time I have passed by this place, I have been wanting to try the food here, and I finally did. The restaurant from the outside looks super inviting with all the geranium plants beautifully decorating every window. Service was good and friendly, but the food, frankly, was a total disaster. Given another chance I wouldn't visit this place. The quantity of the food for the price being paid was pathetic. The menu's...Good lord, whoever discovered these combinations!! Really considered this to be a typical Swiss Chalet and expected some real good Älpler-macaronni, or Rösti but in vain. Very limited choice of dishes on the menu card. Honestly, it's a pleasant place for a drink 🍸 or two. The cherry ice tea was quite refreshing.
