Mönchhof am See — Restaurant in Kilchberg (ZH)

Really good restaurant, where my family and I were regular customers, but unfortunately the quality of the staff, within 2 waiters (2 guys from Balkans), is extremely low. Every time we got another waiter, except for the two cool ones I wrote about above, the quality of service and maintenance fell dramatically. The last time after which I realized that I would not visit this place anymore was very indicative. The waiter was openly unfriendly and for some reason wanted to show me his power as a staff of this place, but he also turned out to be an outright coward. When I asked him to introduce himself, he got scared and ran to seek protection from the head of staff, whose qualification is also questionable. As a result, when I asked to simply change my waiter, I was refused, and the question of why the head of staff is conducting a dialogue with me instead of at least apologizing and going to have a conversation with her waiter, her answer was - he has been working here for two years and I like him. I LIKE HIM - a true answer of a professional. That's why I advise everyone to visit Fishers Fritz, where the view is better, the atmosphere is more comfortable, and the staff works...

This place was extremely busy on a Sunday evening, which is why it took about 15 minutes to be seated..(Family of 4) but still reasonable considering the amount of people there.

The food matched the atmosphere, and there were so many options. Lively and had that buzz of energy as it was a nice summer evening. The only thing with it being a busy place, the service wasn’t very good, it was okay. We had to ask another table to borrow a menu to order.

For drinks: aperol spritz, coke and fresh orange juice.

I’m using the English names for the food as I’m not too good at remembering the German names. We had the wings with bbq sauce (really good flavour didn’t even need the sauce), fried calamari, fried fish, truffle fries, regular fries, baked potato with sour cream, grilled veggies, grilled corn and rib eye. Overall food was great and fresh, good flavour.

Waiters were busy so we had to call them a couple times but would definitely go again. We were famished when we got there so didn’t even take pictures of the food when it came but got some...

Great place, very picturesque with even a couple of tables directly on the pier by the lake. Food was good enough and reasonably priced but I have to say something not so positive about the service. We have been welcomed by a very nice guy and another girl brought us the water, nice and smiley as well. The other person who took the order and brought the bill, on the other hand, was all but friendly, getting very close to being rude. He even grabbed my credit card from my hand when he thought it was not working (but it was him who forgot to press the green button to enable the transaction) without asking or using any "please" or "thank you" during all our meal. Just for the sake of identifying this unpleasant person, he wears round glasses and we would not come back just for him.
