Firstly, as a SOLO traveller and being 3rd trimester PREGNANT - I was assigned to have a dinner at their restaurants as late as 20:30. At the check in I advised it is too late for me and I was told I may come back to change the timing to an earlier one. When I came back later to move it to another time - I was told that unfortunately this is not possible as there are no free tables and I had to dine at 20:30. This was very inconvenient for me as being heavily pregnant I normally was in bed early, around 9/10pm. I also had to eat 2/3 hour before bed time to avoid having a heartburn. Now finishing dining at around 22:30 (because of overall slow service rather than me taking my time to eat) gave me no possibility to rest my stomach before going to sleep and I ended up having both nights sleepless, because of terrible heartburn.
I do not believe it was not possible to move me, a ONE PERSON party, to an earlier dining slot - especially when I saw myself a couple who did NOT stay at the hotel and came to Seerose restaurant just before 7pm, with NO reservation and they were given a table! I am very, very upset because of that. Surely I could have been taken care of much, much better.
Additionally, even though I liked the food and service in Seerose restaurant overall - the waiting time was far too long - I waited for my starter, which was a SOUP, over 40 minutes! Then had to wait for main and dessert, again finishing dining very late…
Secondly, I was very surprised I had to pay for drinks (water) in the evening menus - normally half board packages include soft drinks. I would not have a problem with it if I was informed upfront - which wasn’t unfortunately the case here.
Lastly, I was not entirely happy with the SPA experience. The reception area and treatment rooms are extremely HOT! Perhaps the temperature could be adjusted to more pleasant. Also, unfortunately in the Quiet, rest room and other rooms such as sauna - guests were taking very loud - nothing to do with Ruhezone concept at all - although here this is more fault of the guests I think…
On my last morning I also was waken up to men working on the roof just in front of my balcony - this meant I could not go out in PJ to have a morning coffee and enjoy waking up to the lake view..
All in all, the couple of days I took to rest and relax were sadly very disappointing. I am especially disappointed with the the dining experience I was given… Then the sleepless nights as a result...
When I addressed the concerns at the checkout I was told that they are very sorry and was asked if I want to take a snack back home with me… That’s all. No adjustments to my final bill, no escalation to more senior management, nothing… I am unsure whether the problems were caused because being handled by rather young and unexperienced staff or their lack of awareness of escalation process…
Nevertheless I sent all of the above in an email to the management. I received a reply with apologies and a question whether I would visit them again so that they could "do something good for me". I replied that currently I am not planning to visit them but perhaps I would reconsider if they would advise what is that they could do for me. They have never come back to me... So that is how this...
Read moreSome Service staff need serious attitude checks towards customers. When people are coming to the Seerose, it is about having and most importantly needing a downtime of a stressful week. When choosing the Seerose. It is about their ambience, the good food and most importantly you wished the Owner would do the service himself. I experienced his kind, thoughtful, comforting, conversational, inviting, positive smiling nature TOP Notch! That's how you draw customers in. Hence, I take visiting friends, family, even came alone with my dog for lunch or coffee breaks.
Twice now, I had a bad experience with a waiter. During covid, I completely was in my own tired world when entering and forgetting my mask. I was literally shouted at that all customers turned their heads up. I apologies and asked if I may be able to buy one. No, you cannot. Then another waiter came and said something to him. And then he said he could. So he charged me 2 chf. To put it on whilst standing and take it off when I sat down. And says, we don't normally sell masks.
Seerose, I am certain could have afforded a box for their customers. Or put a sign before the entry, do not enter without a mask.
Rather then putting a customer through an embarrassing stressfull argument. Disturbing all customers at the same time. We are not colleagues. We are customers!
Last time, another waiter in his thirties. We came with my Dog, my friend with her baby boy. He gave us an entire speech. And gave us seats in the room where the staff eats. All good, at least somewhere. As they would have time to prepare the dining area for the evening. But we needed to hurry. As the staff would come to eat in 30min. Then just as we sat down, he says "will your dog bark like this all the time? As it will disturb the customers. My friend and I looked at each other. Don't get me wrong. My dog will get quiet once we settle.
Then I ordered a Latte Macciato. And he says, we don't have Latte Macciato. We have Cappuccino. ????????????
Again, I felt sorry I even came. Tall Italian guy.
Now, then came this lovely older generation waiter. Also Italian. And he asked us Ladies, if everything was alright. Looked at my dog and said, oh does he need some water? Yes please 😊. Talk about feeling looked after 👍. Loved it.
All, I could say to my friend. Do you see the difference of service and character?
Sorry, this is a long review, but when hiring staff. They need to be tested or observed with different senarious without their knowledge. Are they cut out for this work or will...
Read moreWent for a lunch with my other half, and mus say the place looks amazing, the view of lake while sitting @ window is breathless (depending upon weather I guess).
Food: European, most dishes looked with french origin or sounded more of french side (its not complaint, its just my opinion), but quality & quantity, both were good. If you go for three course meal, it will leave you full stomach. We declined desset because of no space left :) Over all I'd it's medium to high quality.
Sitting: It can be busy depending upon days & time. We chose sunday lunch hours and reached 1230 and found it three quarter full but by 1315 restaurant had only four tables occupied (mostly couples).
Staff: Attentive, yes I didnt feel any issue with it, they served us well, however I did feel a bit of coldness, a bit of smile would be a good idea. I cannot say how they would be behaving when restaurant is full, but when we went there most of the people were either half way eating or had finished, so we were served very quickly and appropriately.
Overall, its a very good restaurant. I'd definitely recommend. (BTW By the time I wrote this review I was there once more, so review is based on two visits). Some people mentioned over priced, I dont think its over priced, because this is not a fast food restaurant and purpose of going there is with your family / friends to have a decent meal and spend a great time, for me spending good time over a decent meal with a family can't be...
