Café Restaurant de la Place — Restaurant in Le Locle

I spent an unplanned 4 days in Les Brenets and once I discovered Cafe de la Place on my 2nd day, I returned everyday following ! Sometimes twice a day😉

I was always greeted with a big smile and “Bonjour!” from Isabelle and the local customers.

Even during the lunch rush, I could always find a place at the bar. But when a table cleared in the dining room, I was notified and offered seating.

This is not common, because another cafe in town turned me away for not having lunch (even from the bar).

Café restaurant de la Place is family owned and run. Not only is the setting a warm, cave style but the spirit is also very warm and welcoming.

A few employees speak English! (Another rareity in Les Brenets). I was given many local recommendations which led me to discover the watch museum !

There is Wi-Fi but not many outlets to charge my phone. They accept credit card and are open Sundays and Mondays.

The apple crumble was perfect! Just the right balance of crust and filling. It was not too sweet and the faint dust of powdered sugar lingered on my lips for about 5 minutes after the last bite. It was excellent.

The service was impeccable, I must say. The steak was bit tough, and the fish that I ordered was too small so I was still hungry. The flavor was ok, nothing memorable. Wow, what a pleasent surprise. The camping les brenets reccomended the place and it did not disappoint. Friendly staff and terrific food. Warm asparagus salad for starters, Steak as a main and Strawberry Cheesecake for dessert....
