This place has a good reputation and we were excited to try. I’ve never seen this poor service and kitchen staff in my entire life. My son was served chicken nuggets that were raw in the middle. When we politely pointed this out the waitress did apologize but then brought back the same plate that appeared to be microwaved and was still undercooked. This is the stuff of kitchen nightmares! At the end of the meal we took away my daughters pizza and it was folded up and jammed into a tiny takeaway container so as to be ruined. We wondered if this was intentional at a certain point - my husband wanted to give me a break from translating for everyone on this trip and ordered for us (he doesn’t really speak French), but being a resort town which I imagine is mainly funded by tourist dollars, this seems odd. We spoke to the owner at the end of the evening who seemed earnest and apologized, removed the suspicious nuggets from the bill, and I think even spoke to the kitchen, but I wouldn’t want anyone else to have this experience and waste €120 on frankly quite mediocre pizza. I’ve actually never reviewed anything in google before but this warranted a response. I hope they are able to improve their kitchen and waitstaff so the town can enjoy a decent...
Read moreWhen you walk into La Cakabre, you are greeted by the owners, either Rocco or Lory and the staff who have been there fo some time. They immediately make you feel welcome. The menu is filled with authentic Italian food, so it's difficult to choose, as so many of the dishes are a delight. From the starters to the desserts, everything is beautifully prepared and presented. The wine list has wines carefully selected to complement each dish, ranging in price from affordable to expensive. However, there is another side. Monday night is pizza night where the price is very reasonable without changing the pizzas to fit a lower price. The restaurant has two rooms. One larger restaurant, which also includes a "bistro type annexe as you enter the restaurant, and then the main restaurant. Then there is a further room with a fireplace and is more rustic. Absolutely ideal for winter dining. Very cosy. All in all, I can recommend this restaurant. You will definitely need to...
Read moreI was really surprised to find a nice Italian restaurant in Leysin who is known to be a nice Swiss village at all his effects. The staff were so kind all the time and i don’t get the negative reviews. Even if they were closing at 14:30 they gave us a table at 14 and the food was amazing. My boyfriend said he had one of the best calzone he ever had. And mine was a special pasta allo scoglio in a pan covered with pizza bread (foto below). Really enjoyed everything, price are okay for...
