I lived in Lugano when I was kid, 23 years ago.
Back then I was visiting this place very often. I would simply climb to Monte Bré and enjoyed the view from that balcony.
I was kid, just 15 years old.
Now I came back with my family. My wife and kids. I told them so many times about this place.
Finally that day came.
We entered the restaurant balcony and unfortunately we didn’t notice that sign “wait for the waiter“, we were amazed by the view and the moment itself.
One of the waiters, obviously nervous, told me that it is not allowed to film from balcony, as if I just came to take the fotos. I had a camera in my hands.
Didn’t even asked me if we were there to dine or have a drink.
We were confused, didn’t have opportunity to explain myself and he kind of just ignored us, so we sit for the first available table.
We were ignored for good 7-10min.
Then a table next to the edge with the view was free, and we moved there.
Again ignored for good 5-7min.
Finally, an angry waiter came to the table next to ours to clean it, and another one was cleaning our table from previous guests.
They were talking assuming that I don’t understand them, but I did.
I do speak Italian, I just didn’t have chance to talk to them.
Culmination was when the angry one was passing between those two tables and since my younger daughter moved a chair from the table when she stood up, kind of narrowed the passage for him.
While passing next to our table, nervously he pushed the chair away and left it in that position away from the table.
My younger one was away from the table at that moment, and she saw what happened.
Confused, she returned the chair to the place and was about to sit down, but… that was way to much.
We were already leaving.
I really didn’t have huge expectations, but that was the worst experience I ever had in the restaurant.
This happened on April 11th 2023 at 13:43. You know who is the angry one in your team.
I checked the other comments later and looks like I am not the only one with this experience.
You do understand that the time when the seller had the power is long gone.
Now, all the power is on the customer side.
I usually never consider entering the restaurant if it doesn’t have 4 star’s review at least.
If your rating falls under the 3, you can be sure that people will avoid it.
No view can fix poor service. View is your USP, but at the end of the day your customers want to be served well.
View is your reason to charge a bit more for the service, but you still have to give the service, right?
If you really want to fix this rating and make some money in the future, let me know. I might have solution for you.

Read moreOne of worst restaurant with an old-fashioned attitude to customers who seem to be there as a favour from the restaurant owners and employees. The place is fabulous but it is not well managed at all! Customers are treated like animals in the queue that have to wait. This would be perfect if there were not rude ways from who manages the restaurant. I have been there only once and despite the panoramic view, beautiful in itself, this is not a place where I will come back.
If we consider the food, it is even worse because quality is not an ingredient of this restaurant. You have to wait a lot and I assume for their organization because when I was there, people were all served and there were only 2 tables who ordered, including ours.
