Hotel-Ristorante Schlössli — Restaurant in Meggen

I was there between 03 and 05 August and it was the worst experience with "hotels" that I already had. ||||As I decided to travel to late, I could not find another place in Switzerland to stay, with normal prices I mean, then I saw this option on internet. ||||So, my experience: I we arrived, the man on the reception was a little bit rude, just gave the keys and did not tell us anything more... Just asked if we would like to pay more 14,00 euros p day to have a beakfast (OF COURSE NOT... In front of the place they have a VERY GOOD bakery which its possible to have a decent breakfast for 10,00 euros... with NICE people). ||||The room was very tiny (ok for the price), but not properly cleaned and TOO HOT.. they don´t have at least a ventilator in the summer (more than 30 degrees). ||||The another guests were also problematic. A couple of them were talking VERY LOUD at 01:00 AM in front of my room. I had to ask them to be quiet. ||||And finally, to complete the nightmare, the room was FULL OF SPIDERS... (I made photos), which shows that they don´t clean this properly...||||Of course i will NEVER come back to this place. ||||Positive points ??? The price and the location. It´s really easy to reach Luzern. ||||I recommend it if you don´t mind to stay in dirty and hot places, if you are young and come to the hotel JUST to sleep...

My boyfriend and I had the opportunity to both stay in the hotel and eat at the restaurant. I’ll start with the hotel: it is away from the hustle and bustle of Lucerne (about a 20 minute bus ride from the train station) and conveniently located right across the street from a bus stop in Meggen. Check in was easy. The rooms are very no-frills. They weren’t horrible, just simple. The room was clean enough and the beds were very comfortable. I found the room to be a little noisy: we were wondering if it shared a wall with the restaurant kitchen… but at night it was quiet. Two major downsides to the hotel: 1) we visited during the summer and it was very hot and stuffy inside the rooms, since there is no AC. You can’t open the door or windows to let some air in because the mosquitoes there are horrendous. 2) It is located meters away from a clock tower that chimes excessively every 15 minutes between 7 am and 10 pm. No sleeping in here! Next, the restaurant: we ordered a salad, the stracciatella, and the Dante pizza. All were very delicious! The service was quite slow though (I know, I know, it is the European way, but after spending 3 weeks in Europe at this point, I still felt it was...
