This restaurant is located right below the funicular and we decided to give it a go based off their great reviews. It is a quaint family owned business by Enrico and his wife. He told us to take advantage of their special for the day which was a steak with fries and all you can eat salad bar and soup. First we helped ourselves to the salad which tasted and looked freshly made. Once we were done, they timed the hot curry carrot soup which was perfectly flavored. Then for the main course, a medium cooked steak on a sizzling hot plate was served. It came with 3 different sauces each delicious in its own way. On top of that the fries were fried to perfection and absolutely crunchy with every bite. Honestly zero complaints. My cousin said this was her favorite meal that we had in our travels across Switzerland!
Throughout the whole meal, Enrico made sure we were well attended and asked us about ourselves and he told us about his past. It made us feel extremely welcome like we were eating in his home!! If you are visiting this small town, be sure to add this restaurant t the list...
Read moreI feel really bad that I have not had a chance to write a review as I promised myself last year. We visited last July 24 and the place was hidden in the back of old cable car station. Buffet du Funiculaire in Neuchâtel is widely praised for being warm, welcoming, and family-friendly. This is truly the local gem. We enjoyed so much with the host Enrico who has visited San Diego quite a few times. Since we were from San Diego, We had a great conversation regards to the city, local food and even some of the politics.
The restaurant is renowned for its signature hot stone-cooked meats—diners rave about the steak and chicken served sizzling on slate, which are both tender and flavorful. This is must dish different from any other steak house in US. We even met with girl from Chicago and agreed with Enrico's great dish.
I am definitely planning to revisit with my whole family soon to experience his hot...
Read moreExcellent welcome, the hosts are so kind, even dogs are accepted, we chose the menu with the steak on the ardoise which included a salad from the buffet. The food was excellent and well presented, prices are as high as everywhere in the city. Parking in the area was not easy. Unlike in other restaurants, where we like to order tap water, here a free pitcher of water is only served if the customer already buys drinks (so says the menu), which in fact made the pitcher useless as we drank the...
