AVOID : Extremely rude waitress.
I have eaten ice cream here on several occasions with my grandmother.
The ice cream is very nice and my grandmother always gives a very generous tip.
So I came to meet my friend from England here who was visiting me to show him beautiful Switzerland and to treat him to delicious ice cream.
I had a large backpack with me with clothes that I was doing to donate in Ünterageri. I had to use the toilet because I had eaten pears.
The waitress was extremely rude when she saw me use the toilet. Because of her extreme rudeness I decided that it was not a good representation of Swiss friendliness and to go elsewhere, never to return to this place and to also tell my grandmother ad friends about this very rude encounter with the waitress.
And yes it was this exact restaurant, not another one. The waitress was around 40-50 years old, thin, tall and had short hair. The room was quite spacious and the balcony was a bonus. Everything was very clean. The service was absolutely impeccable and the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. For example, we were left a fantastic breakfast on our last morning when we had to leave at 5am - complete with an individually set table and a cooler bag containing meats, cheeses and juice (along with the pastries, breads, etc. already on the table). There isn't much else around the hotel so we ate in their restaurant every night and it was great - good hearty down to earth food. There is a lovely walking trail around the lake and the hotel has its own little steps into the lake for if you fancy a swim....

We were greeted warmly even though I believe that the kitchen was closed, or at least was in the process of doing so. The server asked what we wanted and even with our language barrier (we live in Colorado, USA) she and the cook made sure that we were served exactly what we had asked for- and it was absolutely delicious. I loved the atmosphere, with a group of elderly local gentlemen enjoying themselves in this beautiful environment. We were so grateful. It was my first time visiting Switzerland, and I was very impressed with how friendly everyone was. I want to bring my husband to stay at this hotel for an extended visit in the future to explore...
