This is the only restaurant in this small town, and the upper floor has been converted into guest accommodations. This might lead to some unexpected experiences, such as: 1. The rooms cannot be locked from the outside. Therefore, you should not leave any valuables behind when you’re not in the room. Even if you’re in a country known for its high quality of life, if something unexpected happens, who will take responsibility? 2. The rooms have no sound insulation whatsoever. You will hear conversations, footsteps, and doors opening and closing from the adjacent mall throughout your stay. 3. Even if you book a private room at a higher price, it only comes with a private shower. Toilets are shared. Additionally, there is a diagonal support beam near the bed. If you get up in the middle of the night without turning on the light — even if you’re not particularly tall — you might hit your head on it. 4. The bed is of poor quality — you may feel yourself sliding to one side while sleeping. Not to mention the questionable cleanliness of the blanket and pillowcases. It’s best to bring your own bedding to lay over. 5. The food quality and taste are disappointing, especially considering this is a restaurant. Moreover, the dining area for hotel guests is separated from restaurant patrons. Guests are made to eat in a narrow room which doesn’t accommodate the number of guests well. During busy meal times, you’ll likely have to squeeze in tightly with others. But the most disappointing aspect is the lack of adequate service — slow and inattentive — likely due to staff being split between taking care of restaurant diners, who seemingly receive better service than hotel guests. Recommendation to the business owner: If you cannot manage two types of businesses well at the same time, it’s better to focus on doing just one of them — and do it right.

Rather an underwhelming experience. I've been to many hotels, hostels, mountain huts, and other sorts of accommodation in my life and I've never seen someone putting a mattress ~20cm less wide than the bed frame (see picture). It is very unpractical and uncomfortable when you move during the night and slide off the mattress to this massive gap and end up on the metal frame bars. There is no explanation for this apart from being cheap and careless, and not putting even the minimal effort to match the mattress and bed frame size. On top of it, the mattress are not comfortable. Secondly, they really try to cramp the rooms with as many beds as possible, so you end up in a situation where your bunk bed is attached to the window, making it impossible to open the window (see the picture). This is particularly annoying in hot summer nights, as it can get really warm in the room. The only good thing about our stay here was that the food was decent. Everything else was way below expectations and basic standards. The hospitality at the reception is rather basic, not to use some harsher word. Also the waiters do not seem to be sufficiently professional (e.g. as I was eating my last bite from my dinner plate, the waiter came and without asking me took away my plate). All of this for 90 CHF is an absolute rip off if you ask me or any of my other 10 companions who traveled with me. If you can, try to book accommodation elsewhere, otherwise expect uncomfortable night of sleep and lousy service.

The server was very disrespectful. I would eat elsewhere based on her attitude and service. I am a vegetarian and ordered a vegetarian lasagna. The lasagne came in 4 quadrants (picture attached). I had the first quadrant and realized it had meat. I dissected the second quadrant to confirm and show the server. I waved her down and she ignored us. After waiting 15 minutes, I waved her down more aggressively and asked if the lasagnas was in fact vegetarian. The server said “hm chef must have made mistake because I rang up a vegetarian lasagne.” She questioned why I didn’t realize earlier and I showed here where it became visible to me. She still charged me for the lasagne, didn’t offer a refund or an apology and kept on with her day. I ended up asking for it to go as a result of being charged. Very unnecessary behavior for someone who simply wanted a vegetarian lasagne from the menu.

Definitely the worst accommodation we encountered during our whole TMB trek. We booked a private room months in advance and paid the deposit (half of the cost) online. Our credit card was charged for the deposit immediately. However, upon arrival, we were informed that they could not find our reservation and they do not have room available. When I told them that I paid the deposit, they insisted there was no record of our reservation and refused to refund us.||Luckily we were able to find another place to stay in town. On the second morning, we went back to hotel and was able to talk to the manager. Upon questioning, she reluctantly admitted that she did receive our deposit but the reservation was "never accepted" because no room was available for that date. When asked why they did not inform us during the months in between and refund us, she could not provide a satisfactory answer. Eventually she did issue a refund for our deposit.||Overall, the whole experience just feels really dodgy. This place is either incompetently managed, or, trying to scam travellers. Although we did not stay, during our brief encounter I can tell the place was run down. The shared bathrooms were...
