Walz Backkunst AG — Restaurant in Tägerwilen

I used to go to Walz all of the time, and liked the large windows and bright environment. I was shocked, though, the last time I was there, that two waitresses each tried to overcharge me. The first one, I ordered tap water (to go with a variety of food and coffee I ordered), and she delivered fizzy water from a bottle. The second waitress, after I ordered two egg dishes labeled on the menu as CHF 5.50 each, charged me over CHF 7.50 each. Overall, the final bill came in at about CHF 33, vs. the CHF 22-25 I was expecting. I challenged her on both overcharges, and she did correct them. But never apologized or noted any remorse for their obviously trying to con me. This was very surprising for Switzerland, in general, where I have lived for a long time. My German is not 100%, but it is OK, and they may have surmised that I was a tourist, and that, especially, makes it reprehensible given that tourists are sometimes disoriented and vulnerable and the last people they should be trying to con. Shocking and disappointing. I will never go there again—they lost a lot of business since I am moving to the area and had previously planned to dine there often, including with friends, family...

Seit mehr als einem Jahr gehe ich gerne zur Bäckerei Walz in Tägerwilen. Die Produktpalette ist gross, die Backwaren lecker angerichtet. Sehr oft erlebe ich leergekaufte Regale und nur ein Minimalangebot. Spricht für eine grosse Akzeptanz im Dorf und auch für die durchwegs gute Qualität der Backwaren. Ein Manko ist leider das Personal. Ich habe den Eindruck, dass keiner wirklich gerne arbeitet. Leidenschaft und Einsatz wie ich es von Kreuzlingen kenne fehlen hier gänzlich. Die Freundlichkeit wirkt aufgesetzt und spiegelt sich dann auch in der Tätigkeit wieder. Tagesangebote oder Sonderaktionen werden nicht kommuniziert. So habe ich beispielsweise kürzlich 3 Berliner gekauft. Beim Verlassen sehe ich zufällig ein kleines Schild mit der Aufschrift: 3 Berliner kaufen 5 bekommen. Auf Nachfrage wurde mir dieses Angebot bestätigt und ich bekam noch 2 Berliner mürrisch ausgehändigt.

Zur Zeit habe ich den Eindruck, als müsste ich mich für meinen Einkauf bei Walz entschuldigen. So schade eigentlich...
