“Al Solito Posto” is one of those rare “rural” (in the close vicinity of Zürich that is) but “genuine” Italian restaurants. Sure it offers pizzas but not your run of the mill pizzas and some of them you’ve never heard of. Vincenzo the owner comes from Napoli and brought a few of his local ingredients with him such a home made sausage or a type of kale and so on. The same goes for the rest but with a few exceptions it’s never too outlandish for Swiss palates. Get to know him a bit though and it immediately gets into a different territory and he will offer to prepare dishes which do not appear on the menu such as a caponata which he just promised me would be in front of me this coming Friday (that happened 😊). The same goes for meat and different types of fish (we had a tomahawk steak recently and it was out of this world). Vincenzo is also very choosy (and knowledgeable) about his wines - and beers actually) and he will always suggest the right accompaniment to your meal. He’s quite an entertainer also and a newly redesigned terrace all add up to the mix. What I’m trying to say is that this place is quite a local gem that really deserves to be discovered. Go for it, you won’t be...
Read moreWe’ve been living in Uetikon for six years and only just discovered this little Italian gem — and now it’s our new favorite restaurant! Once you step inside, everything feels special. The menu isn’t just a menu, it tells Vincenzo’s story — how he became a chef, where his food comes from, and his passion for homemade dishes.
We started with the beef carpaccio, then I had the carbonara (perfectly cooked pasta, no cream! My husband is Spanish, hard to please when it comes to food, he is generally always disappointed how expensive restaurants in Switzerland are for the food you get, and in his words, this carbonara dish was best he ever had in his life!) and my husband had the spareribs, which were so tender the meat literally fell off the bone. Everything tasted incredible. We shared a bottle of Poggio alle Nane — not the cheapest option on the list, but honestly such a perfect wine for date night.
Vincenzo and his brother-in-law Toni. Both were so warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome.
All in all: amazing food, amazing hosts. We’ll definitely be back...
Read moreI came with my husband and our 6 month old baby. We were warmly welcomed from the start. It is very family friendly - there's more than enough space for a stroller, they have Stokke high chairs, and were considerate enough to bring out some small magazines for my boy to mess around with, which I really appreciated.
Vincenzo, the chef and owner, is super generous and takes his craft very seriously. I ordered the Calabrese pizza and it was delicious - I was happy with it. However, it was not up to his standards, and later he brought out another one - even better than the last - free of charge! It was so unexpected and kind.
Antonio, the waiter, was also really warm and attentive. The costumer service was phenomenal. They really go above and beyond here.
The location is great too. It is a lovely 12 minute stroll from the train station. Right outside is also a nice playground, perfect if you're bringing along kids.
Overall, we were really well looked after. I would definitely recommend...
