Accommodation is modest but offers cleanliness and all basic comforts including free and unfussy internet connection. Additionally, the welcome was genuine and friendly (also for the accompanying canine guest) and the owner and staff (plus a fellow guest) went way beyond the call of duty to give route advice for our onward journey.||The restaurant offers a creative, grandiose nouvelle cuisine plus an extensive wine list featuring predominantly French and Swiss classics. It is also pricey (dinner for one was more than twice the price of the room) - with, however, a less costly bistrot (also popular with the locals) for the more budget conscious.||The food and the accommodtion balanced each other out - with the whole providing a comparative bargain (for Switzerland).||Bottom line: a real alternative for travellers who find it difficult to resist the magic of Switzerland (and its cuisine) but are scared by the rapidly rising value of the Franc. Genuinely caring and professional welcome and service! The staff and owner are exceptional at making one feel at home and appreciated. This is VERY rare! The attention to detail in this kitchen raises to the same top level of quality. Local meat from the high end butcher across the street, fresh salad from the fields nearby and great bread from next door! I’ve enjoyed several excellent fish dishes also. It’s not the ingredients alone that stand out, it’s the delicious seasonings, sauces and skill of cooking to the perfection! Presentations are a pleasure for the eyes.
