We were staying in Geneva and took a weekend getaway to Chateau Salavaux. We booked the “Wine and Dine” package which included our lodging in a Superior Room and a four course dinner with wines paired with each course. Everything was fantastic! The people who run the Chateau have done a wonderful job updating the rooms while keeping the historic rooms as very comfortable, well-appointed room with a cozy, rustic yet chic decor. We requested to be able to drop our bags prior to check-in, but they were nice enough to get our room ready two hours early. ||The hotel staff/owners have created a lovely venue with wonderful hospitality and which is very welcoming. In a sense, we felt at home. Just superb!||The food and wine were fantastic as well. We very much enjoyed the tastes and presentation of each course, including an amuse bouche, and the wonderful local wines that were paired with each course.||We also had breakfast in the morning which had egg dishes and a buffet with breads, cheeses, charcuterie, cereal, pastries, and fruit, with coffees and juices as well. Read more놘 – It's not really a castle- room was ok but very expensive and no mirror in the bedroom, nothing special. Not enough staff at breakfast either.||||I found out when booking that the restaurant is closed on Wednesdays- not a problem. But they do not warn the guests that there is no staff whatsoever, no access to the bar or even a kettle to make a tea in the evening.||||We came back at 20 30, having had dinner in Morat, to a locked up hotel, empty , dark and dead.||||At this price, it's not acceptable.||||We are on holiday, and were looking forward to having a drink and read in the lounge, or at least finish the evening in style.||||When we talked and complained|||| to one of the manager the next day at breakfast, it became apparent that the management is saving money by not having enough staff and he commented that it was a" bed and breakfast" on Wednesdays!! ||At over £ 200 a night??
