Gasthaus zum Schäfli — Restaurant in Wildhaus-Alt St. Johann

We ordered a Double room and instead we got the Studio room on the third floor.||Even that the Studio costs about double the price of a Double room, it was much less comfort due to the low roof that did not allow comfortable sleep in the beds and the need to climb lots of stairs with heavy suitcases in order to reach it. Too bad that the owner did not warn us about the change and did not respect our specific reservation.||||WiFi works very well in the room, the fastest that we ever encountered in hotels.||||The restaurant (including breakfast) is located in a separate building. To get the keys we had to go to the restaurant, fortunately we encountered other guests that directed us. Otherwise we would look for the reception desk forever...||||Parking space is very limited, probably not enough when there are many guests.||||Price at the restaurant was very high, so we could only afford having soup. I assume it's similar in other hotels in Switzerland, but we are used to more affordable prices in Germany, Austria and Italy.||Breakfast included various breads and cheeses and...

Gerade mal 30 Sekunden war ich im Schäfli und schon entschied ich, dass die ganze Familie das Lokal auf der Stelle wieder verlassen soll. (4 Erwachsene 2 Kleinkinder)|Grund dafür war der unglaublich unfreundliche Gastgeber. (Ich gehe davon aus, dass Herr Koller war, wenn ich die restlichen Bewertungen so ansehe)|Was ist geschehen.|Nach einem kurzen Skiausflug mit unserem "Grossen" im Ski-Kinderland hatten wir einen kleinen Hunger. Kurz vor Mittag steuerten wir das überaus hübsche Gasthaus Schäfli an. Meine Frau ging vor und erkundete Sich, ob es noch Platz für 4 Erwachsene und 2 Kinder (1 davon schlafend im Kinderwagen) Die freundliche Bedienung fragte, ob wir reserviert haben. Verständlich. Nein, haben wir nicht. Kein Problem meinte die nette Dame und fing an uns einen Tisch her zu richten. Als ich mit dem Rest der Familie und dem Kinderwagen das Gasthaus betrat, wurde ich harsch vom Chef zurück gewiesen, dass der Kinderwagen nicht ins Gasthaus gehört. Auf den Hinweis, dass die Kleine (9 Monate) erst gerade Ihren überfälligen Schlaf gefunden hat, beeindruckte den guten Herr nicht. Auch er fragte nochmals, ob wir denn reserviert hätten. Meine Antwort: "Nein, haben wir leider nicht, aber gem. Ihrer Servicekraft hätten wir noch Platz und auch der Kinderwagen sei kein Problem. Sei durch meine Frau vorgängig und persönlich im Gasthaus abgehklärt worden" Auf eine weiter "schnäderfrässige" Antwort des Chefs "befahl" ich den sofortigen Rückzug der ganzen Familie aus dem Gasthaus. Auf meine Bemerkung, dass dieses Gasthaus es wohl nicht nötig hätte und wir uns anderswo verpflegen werden, kam vom Chef nur noch spötisch hinterher, dass es ja im Dorf sonst so oder so keinen weiteren offenen Gasthof mehr hätte, in den wir Essen gehen könnten. War aber kein Problem. Wir fuhren das Toggenburg hinab und schon in Starkenbach kehrten wir beim Restaurant Churfirsten ein. Gute Parkmöglichkeit, hübsches Lokal sehr freundliche und auch kinderfreundliche Bedienung. Gutbürgerliches Essen.|Schlussendlich widerspiegelt unser Erlebnis im Schäfli leider das Klischee der unfreundlichen Toggenburger-Gastronomie. Sehr schade. Habe mich in diesem Moment "geschämt" ein Toggenburger zu sein. (Auch wenn ich nur ein Untertoggenburger bin :-)) Empfehle, dieses Gasthaus zu boykottieren. Als einziges tat mir die freundliche Servicefachkraft leid. Wenn ich sie wäre, würde ich so rasch wie möglich einen neuen Job bei einem freundlichen Chef suchen. Denn Ihrem Gesichtsausdruck an, konnte sie die Welt, bzw. die Reaktion ihres Chefs in dem Moment auch nicht verstehen.|Traurig, traurig, traurig. Mehr habe ich nicht...
