The atmosphere was delightful. As you approach, you encounter the smell of a dairy farm—a quaint touch that foreshadows the cheese adventure awaiting inside. The gondolas and festive outdoor seating are straight out of a European travel brochure, with heaters and enough space to host a company party. Dining inside with a view of the bunnies hopping around is whimsical, and the interior of the restaurant is cozy and inviting.

The food, though… Well, the salad was fantastic, and the white wine was smooth—maybe I should’ve just stuck with those. But alas, I dared to venture into the world of fondue, a world where my uncultured American palate was swiftly, mercilessly punished. The house fondue was an exercise in masochism: bitter, sour, and absolutely unpalatable. And then there was the truffle fondue, which tasted like someone emptied an entire bottle of synthetic truffle oil into a vat of slightly foamy hot milk. It was less “rich, decadent cheese” and more “chemical soup experiment gone wrong.” Honestly, I didn’t know fondue could attack you on so many levels.

Worth noting: my clothes smelled like a dairy farm for hours after I got home.

So, if you’re coming for the vibes, the wine, or the bunnies, you’re in for a great time. But if you’re looking for fondue enlightenment, I’m confident the “tourist traps” in Zürich are a...

This is not just a restaurant it is an experience. Do not hesitate to book your reservation, just book it!!! This is a very popular location and a reservation is a must. The moment you walk onto the property you feel at home. The outside, especially during Christmas, is absolutely magical. We were immediately warmly greeted by our server, Kosta, who was beyond kind and professional. He has the best personality and made our experience extraordinary. His table service was top notch. The ambience is incredible. I felt like I was invited into a quintessential Swiss home. It was beyond warm and inviting. You get a 2 hour window to dine and I wanted to stay all night. The fondue was absolutely the best cheese fondue I have ever had!!! It was amazing. We paired it with the potatoes, bread and ham. Our kiddos order pasta dishes and they were beyond thrilled with the flavor. The chef at this restaurant is top of the class. We have been traveling for the past 12 days in Europe and this was the best dining experience and food we have had. The bonus was the white string lights and the bunny viewing window. There is nothing I can suggest for improvement as everything was spot on. I would recommend Chasalp to anyone and would most definitely eat here again if ever given the chance. Please book a reservation, sit back, relax...

Great service at the time of the reservation, the guy who handled the reservation assured me that we can have all fondues alcohol free and indeed we found this to be true. The staff is mixed between friendly and snobs, which is not the norm for Switzerland as usually restaurants have great customer service. But overall the waiters were great, just the manager I think (guy wearing black) should work on better welcoming all kind if guests, we were just pointed to our seats in a manner that we bothered him while other tables received a much better follow up discussion with him after bein seated. I tried to ask him for the person who took the reservation to thank him for his friendliness, the manager couldn't be bothered to even show interest. The food was great though, atmosphere except for the small bother was great as well. I would repeat the visit with lesser friendly expectation to not feel...

SO SPECIAL! We visited Switzerland from NYC and our last stop was in Zurich. I wanted to find a special spot for our lats dinner and Chäsalp is the perfect place! It's about 25 mins from the city center via bus (all perfectly timed and easy to use). The restaurant is located in the outhouse of an old barn and it's so incredibly charming. The inside is beautifully decorated and they even have windows next to the rabbit pen outside so you can bunny watch while you enjoy your meal! We got 2 pots of fondue (one Chäsalp and one with bacon and plum liqueur). They were both SO tasty and came with ample bread and potatoes (we added on the fresh seasonal fruit, which was also tasty with the cheeses)! We had the best time here, especially roaming the grounds after dinner. What a charming location, perfect for a special night out!
