Friend recommended this restaurant, saying that it's famous for good local vegetable dishes at at price. The place was busy but not packed. Order 4 dishes.
We had to order food at the back instead of at table. The guy taking order was looking at his phone while taking order.
Food was served quickly.
炒山豬肉 dish was was served incorrectly and chicken was delivered. After several reminders from us, the missing dish was still not served. The restaurant manager has an attitude claiming that the reason for it was that the cook was eating, but others who came after us were served quickly.
The 客家小炒 was terrible. The 炒茼蒿 was ok. The 金沙筊白筍 was edible but I was expecting more crunchy not soft. We also order Toro noodle at 50nt but it was not testy and only a few small pieces of taro. The white rice was ok.
Expecting was that restaurant take responsibility and apologized for mistake, instead of trying to weasel out of it. We didn't have to pay for it, so it was just inconvenient for us. Would have liked to see how it tasted.
If you like bad service and ediable food at ok price, you can go. However, there are many less famous eatery around at cheaper price and better service. Friend said the restaurant across the street had much better service with a smile and give some free dish the last time he want to eat at 青菜園 but it was too busy, so he went there instead.
Recommendation: try the restaurant...
Read moreThis place does serve food in local flavour. Very busy place where waitress run their services in unique way. Can imagine not easy for foreigners however dishes would impress you if you are willing to explore. I would recommend 3 dishes. Chicken, water bamboo stir fry with salted egg and deep fry Taiwanese Shiitake mushroom. Chicken with skin, water bamboo and Shiitake mushroom are big 3 ingredients which are critical to cook. They tell the skill level for a cook directly. After tried the chicken, it became a must-order one. The chicken skin is simply tasty. Not greasy not too soft. They don't use too much salt but able to standout the chicken flavour. The water bamboom with salted egg is another specialty. The texture of water bamboo was reserved. Water bamboo does have a special flagrant. If cook with too high temperature then the taste would be gone fast however salted egg does need high temperature in linger time to stir fry. Same to deep fry shiitake mushroom that it requires precise control over the fry oil. They do good job for...
Read moreWe went there on a public holiday, the queue was very long but moved very quickly, we probably waited for about 30 minutes for a shared table (You need to register your name when you arrive, and provide your preference to share a table or not).
Chicken is the most popular dish, everyone orders the chicken dish (白斬雞)by default. We had the chicken dish, sweet and sour fish and a mountain veggie dish. It's more than enough for the two of us, but next time we probably will stick with one chicken and two veggie dishes as the veggie dishes are really very delicious, veggies is this restaurat's speciality, highly recommended!!
It's a very traditional Taiwanese restaurant, the environment seems a bit messy, but everything works in its own rhythm and order, food is delicious, it's definitely...
