Fugu Ji Restaurant

Chanced upon this restaurant because it’s near Cingjing farm and it was raining so heavily.

Ordering is done via QR code, but we realised the menu descriptions were quite “chim” (a little too complex for us), so we gave up and asked the staff for help, which they were kind enough to do. Originally, we were thinking of ordering ala carte too, since only 3 of us, but decided that the set meal for two offered better value, even for the three of us.

Pleasantly surprised by the dishes actually, like the beancurd that’s quite delicious, flavourful, the stirred fried cabbage which’s cooked just nice, soft, and crispy, and importantly not too salty. but the highlight is definitely the roasted chicken. Marinated so well, tender and yummy! they will also debone the whole chicken for you to make it easy for you to eat. Rmb to eat the skin!!!

You can help yourself to the free flow tea too. And if you have a driver with you, the driver also gets a free meal. That’s a nice gesture!

Satisfying meal...

Yummy!!! So happy we decided to have dinner here, we were the only guests in the restaurant at 6.30pm as it is off season now. It’s right next to our hotel, and when we told reception we wanted to eat here, we got a 10% off voucher 😊

They serve whole chicken (no smaller servings) for NT$750. The chicken was juicy and super tasty, with !!crispy!! skin. Sooo good. We also ordered a small bowl of clear soup (with veggies - and the soup is refillable) NT$160, a serving of their 招牌 roasted pork NT$420, and white rice NT$10 (which they serve with a flavourful, salty chicken gravy). There is free refillable black tea and drinking water. We over-ordered for 2 pax, but no regrets 😬 Prices before 10% discount.

Overall - highly recommend to come here for a meal if you’re visiting...

My family and I had one of the best meals here! We were recommended to this restaurant by our 民宿 host, and we’re glad that we followed her recommendation! The roast chicken was excellent, and unlike anything we've tried in Singapore. It was fragrant, succulent and super delicious. We ordered some other dishes and they were great too! The service was great too, all of the staff were super friendly and nice despite there being so many people in the restaurant. One advice is to perhaps call to reserve as the restaurant was quite packed when we arrived.
