Back home I shop at Costco for everything. I am a Costco fanatic and I could probably tell you almost everything they sell. They have so much stuff you can get things like household goods, frozen foods, fresh foods, american foods, asian foods, automotive, bakery, meat, seafoods, liquor, home, pet, optical, large and small appliances, kitchen, tires, and much more. Don't forget the food court which here sells pizza: combo, Hawaiian, seafood, and recently a new chicken type, chicken and bulgogi bakes, corn soup, chicken Caesar salads (Note: Not American Caesar dressing), hot dog, chicken sandwich, lemon smoothies, ice cream, churro, and sodas.
Also you can buy whole bean coffee and grind it in the machine after paying in front. Also who could forget the samples of the foods they sell they are usually delicious and nice to try as you shop. They also have roadshows and have products that come around a various times throughout the year so be looking for those. Usually it's posted nearby the exit who, what, when ect. IMPORTANT NOTE: Costco Taiwan ONLY ACCEPTS CASH OR COSTCO VISA CREDIT CARD HERE unlike the US which now accepts all Visa cards. ATM IS available inside. I also can say that generally all the foods they sell have pretty good quality. Though I have noticed that if your buying meat here the use by date is usually days away so buy freezer bags and separate your portions for later use when buying in bulk.
Plus, their return policy is unlike any other place and allows you to have in essence and extended warranty on almost everything you buy. Same policy applies here in Taiwan and don't be afraid to use it. If something breaks or doesn't work make sure to return it. If you don't love it return it, plain and simple full refund in cash. Neihu Costco is two levels connected by cart escalators. Always prepare to wait in line it's usually busy inside and at the checkout. If you can come at non peak times or weekdays as weekends are always packed. Motor bike parking outside on sidewalk and in lower level inside the garage with cars. Be careful riding your motorbike on the sidewalk the police frequently wait nearby the store entrance to give tickets. Push your motorbike to a parking spot if...
Read moreI remember when this warehouse actually first opened in 1998. I walked in the second day of their grand opening weekend when they didn't have that many members and their staff got freaked (in a good way) when they saw my membership card from the US. I made the mistake of coming on a weekend this last trip because I didn't have time during the weekday. Things have certainly changed! Not only is it incredibly crowded, but one thing I absolutely hate is getting hit from behind by a shopping cart. And it happened THREE TIMES. And no one apologizes when they do it. That really ticks me off. This pretty much is like what you find in the US, but the selection of product is both different because of the local brands, but there's definitely more sampling stations in my estimation. At least people are courteous and orderly for that. I did get a chance to run to the food court to try a duck pizza, which tasted more like BBQ chicken, and a teriyaki chicken bake. The menu has changed significantly, as you used to be able to order 6-7 kinds of pizza before and now only 4. Their dough is softer and more bread like than the more elastic pizza dough from the US, which is a product of both local tastes and availability of ingredients. There isn't a deep discount for product as you would think. (That's not even the case for the American side either, btw). My friend told me Starbucks Via instant coffee costs the same if you buy it at a retail store vs. Costco Taiwan. Kavalan whiskey is only about a $2-3US difference from pricing I was...
Read moreWhat a huge disappointment!!! Me and my family have been Costco customers for over 20 years. I'm a huge Costco fan and I have visiting multiple Costco's in different countries. This is buy FAR the worse experience in customer service I've ever encountered. It's a pretty small Costco compared to the US that I am familiar with, which for me is not a problem, as long as the products are up to their usual standard (which they were). However, at the checkout, the cashier was rude and inpatient. After scanning all the items, I asked kindly, if they take Visa (I know the US doesn't take MasterCard and Amex). She said, "we don't take foreign cards, only Costco credit cards". (Btw, Costco credit cards are Visa. There was a big poster with their different cards and one of them said "Visa") After I asked her, if she could try it, she rudely yelled at me that either I pay with the taiwanese Costco credit card or pay cash because I'm holding up the line (there was only one party after me). Even if they didn't take the "foreign" Visa card, it wouldn't have bothered me, but her tone and attitude was beyond imagination from what I expect from Coscto. What a shame how they train their staff and let one person ruin their experience with such a great company. I will never go to that store again. Shame on this...
