I made the hour trip from Taipei to Baishawan twice just to try this place. It's a fantastic restaurant with great decor, good food, and they even have real milkshakes! I would give it 5 stars for food alone, but my second visit, my fish and chips, their signature dish, had a few small issues; The fish was crispy outside, but mushy and wet in the middle, like paste, as though the fish wasn't quite cooked through. The fries were dark and oily, as though the oil temperature wasn't hot enough when cooking. Totally lesser quality than my first visit a couple weeks prior when the food was astoundingly good, the fish was fried to perfection and the fries were fresh, golden and crisp. The female server on my first visit was amazing, bringing properly refrigerated condiments to my table immediately and providing excellent customer service. The male server on our second visit was adequate, no big issues, just not as on point as my first visit. My biggest issue was the heat, no air-conditioning, as they open the rear wall for a spectacular view of the beach, but in August, it's too hot and affects the enjoyment of the food, melting the milkshake faster than is enjoyable. Would still go there again, totally worth the trip, but if they can improve their consistency, be more proactive with their customer service, and make the temperature more comfortable in summer, I'd give them 5 stars...
Read moreEverything is just very poor quality frozen food. I don’t want to be harsh but they must know that they’re serving bad food here…
The chips are just some standard cheap frozen chips that you could buy in carrefour.
The menus show battered onion rings in the picture but they serve you really really cheap quality frozen breadcrumb ones (also first time they arrived they were clearly half cooked so we had to ask for them to finish cooking them). Honestly feel kinda scammed with the onion rings.
The fish also seems to be frozen like the kind from Costco.
Really disappointing.
Edit: Changed from 1 star to 2. Perhaps 1 star was too low, but honestly 2/5 really does match the cheap frozen food that was served. Would consider trying again in future if they switched away from all the...
Read moreWe have been wanting to visit this restaurant for a very long time and finally got the chance. We were not disappointed. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. We enjoyed everything, from the Ceasar salad to the milkshakes, but we went for the fish and chips. The chips were thickly sliced and crispy. The fish was tender and cooked to perfection. The outside crust was crispy, while the inside was soft and juicy. It is worth traveling there...
