This place is known for its stinky tofu pot with duck blood cakes. It’s not for the light hearted and you can smell it a mile away. It’s a Taiwan delicacy and I tried it for the very first time.
I’m familiar with pork blood but never had duck blood. The texture and taste is definitely less grainy. The sauce is absolutely delicious over rice. The cuttlefish dish was excellent. It had roasted peanuts and fried vegetables with chilies. This dish would go great with a beer, highly recommended. The sweet and sour pork standard. The eggplant dish standard.
The service is very good. They love children here too. The walk up here is worth it. This restaurant is very charming with a lot of history. I wish I had more time to explore more dishes. It’s so affordable and you’re getting great food with excellent value. Nice...
Read moreA surprisingly clean and well run 'sit-down' Stinky Tofu Restaurant in the heart of Shenkeng street. The other reviews are spot on, and I had a new Cho Tofu experience here with their signature steamed dish off the menu.
The dish is a rich shrimp-based broth with low salt, highlighted by slightly stinky tofu (good for both beginners or lovers of stinky tofu) covered in stewed pork bits, soybeans and salty dried tiny shrimp.... And some tofu skin around the sides for added contrast to keep it interesting.
Worth the visit, and a good value on their menu vs some of the other options... And the sizable portion filled me up.
Also got the vegetarian Hong Sao Tofu which was also good, but a distant second to their signature offering which stole the spotlight.
All in under $300 NTD; so not a bad meal...
