La Villa Cafe — Restaurant in New Taipei

Good vibe nice staff. Came here for a Christmas feast since it's the only Western restaurant with good reviews in the region, but kinda disappointed in the end. As a Chinese person myself, I can see why this place is popular among the locals, but it's just not authentic Western style. The BBQ ribs I got was generally tasty, but there was a big chunk of fat on my ribs which was not appetizing. The roast chicken my boyfriend got was worse, as we cut through it the fluid from the chicken bursted onto the plate, watering down the sause, which just led to a plate of bland white meat. Besides, all the garnish on the plate just didn't make sense, totally unseasoned, and obviously been sitting out in the fridge for a couple hours instead of freshly prepared. The manager was nice enough to substitute our chicken with carbonara after we sent it back, but the pancetta in the pasta was not cooked well, with all the fat...

American style with a Taiwanese twist, the sets will surely leave you stuffed and the plate of fries truly is American-sized. The presentation is slightly pretentious but at least the flavor was there. Was hoping for more mashed potatoes when I ordered them, and a salad that was precut and not entire leaves of lettuce.

帶有台灣特色的美式風格，套餐一定會讓你吃得飽飽的，而且一盤薯條確實是美式尺寸的。它的外觀有點做作，但至少味道還不錯。我點了一些土豆泥，還點了一份事先切好的沙拉，而不是整片的生菜。

In all, the flavor was hit and miss. The soup was loaded with butter and cream, but still possessed a watery texture. The rolls themselves were great, but they were served with tartar sauce. Missed the memo on that one.

總之，這道湯的味道好壞參半。湯里有很多黃油和奶油，但仍然有一種水一樣的口感。麵包卷本身很好吃，但上面加了韃靼沙司。我沒注意到這一點。

The mains were merely average, with the beef short rib being over cooked and tough and a prawn that was spongy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The pork knuckle was tasty. Meat fell right off the bone and the skin was crispy and light. Guess you can’t win them all!

主菜的味道一般，牛小排煮得太熟了，很硬，反而明蝦外軟里有嚼勁。德國豬腳很好吃。輕輕一撥肉就從骨頭上掉下來，皮又脆又輕。天下沒有完美的事情!

For fantastic views, great coffee and tea with some snacks to nibble on, La Villa is worth the trip out to Wulai for a relaxing experience next to the river. Just be sure to get there in time to claim a spot on the patio.

Surprisingly good, especially in such an.eueal urban area, in terms of food quality and service level. The Italian spaghetti are various kinds of flavors choices, which all are above my expectation. As for the steak portion, it confirms to above average C/P ratio. For noodles, price ranges $300 NT, with seeing $100NT, you can have aet menu with soup+desert+drink. For meats, it ranges $700NT with the same choice of set meal as noodles.... Good C/P ratio restaurant with very nice view of river and mountains given Spring and Fall times sitting...
