Edit- Thank you for your response. I personally don't think this place is catered towards people actually interested in chocolate because the exhibits are not very educational, but of course that can always be improved. I just wanted to set expectations so people could come with that mindset and have a good time. The chocolates don't taste like high quality to me, especially relative to the price. However, that is fine because this is a tourist destination and not a chocolate shop so prices are bound to be higher.
Customer service told my parents that there are costumes that you can wear to go about the castle. They came back in a few seconds all dressed up. At first, I was a bit too lazy to put on a frock but of course, I had to match with the rest of my family. There was only one dress left; it was purple, perfect to match with my purple hair! ๐
The price of the cooler bags you can exchange for each ticket is worth the price of the admission alone. Because you have to remember these are striped souvenir bags with a zipper and the logo emblazoned on it.
Yes, the whole concept of this castle ๐ฐ is a bit gimmicky but there are real cocoa trees outside this establishment, with real cocoa beans!!! ๐ซ One doesn't see that everyday.
They have some touchscreen games that you can use to get a free piece of chocolate next to the chocolate process. There is also a pricey but pretty cafe on one of the upper floors. Souvenir shop is near the exit (of course). You can a slight discount with your admission ticket but the products will still be vastly overpriced.
If you love instagrammable places, this place cannot be missed. Please refer to my photos...
ย ย ย Read moreA pretty charming spot โ the chocolate castle itself is quite nice! You get to play with the capybaras, which was such a pleasant surprise. It was my first time seeing and playing with real capybaras! You can pet them or even run around with them, like seriously!
Yes, itโs a touristy place, no doubt. Youโll get a glimpse of the chocolate factory line and how the chocolate is made, and of course, thereโs a chocolate shop selling all kinds of sweet treats. At level 2, thereโs a gelato cafรฉ, though I found the chocolate a little pricey โ but with your entrance ticket, you do get a 50 TWD discount, which seems like okay.
They also offer some fun extras DIY activities. Actually a lot of DIy activities. My mom and I tried the pouch-making session, which we really enjoyed. Itโs choosing the design you like and they will iron it for you on your pouch. You can also opt for a DIY chocolate cookie session. The instructions are clear, very easy to make and you earn yourself some chocolate cookies!
It was raining when we went, so these indoor activities made the visit quite worthwhile, and having Ice cream for breakfast, tasting chocolate made by their chocolate chef, quite enjoyable for a very cozy, comforting morning. I think itโs a good place for the young and the old to fill in the gap before heading to Cingjing farm!
Seniors aged 60 and above get a discounted entrance ticket!
Been there, done that โ๏ธ my chocolate intake probably has hit quota...
ย ย ย Read moreIt's a fairy tale like castle but the activities within need to be better coordinated. First floor is a merchandise display plus clothes rental, if you want to pay to dress up in ancient gowns and costumes. There is a small demo place where they make choc truffles. Second floor is where you can get your coffee and gelato but don't hold your breath for the coffee. The gelato is ok but a tad too sweet for my preferences. The third floor is supposed to showcase the manufacturing process of the choc thins which they claim they can make really thin ones. But when we were there in the morning the production line wasn't fully running so when you peer through the windows there is nothing much to see. There is an interactive screen where you can press a few buttons and get a piece of choc thin if that is what you like. Outdoors there is a horse drawn carriage which is the IG kind of location and at the back there is a garden to entertain the kids. A few cocoa trees with pods dot the place so it is a good experience if you haven't seen those before. Other than that I feel its lacking in terms of activities to justify the entrance fee and the chocs are rather pricey. One bonus is you get a cooler bag as a souvenir with each ticket...
