I was really craving for some American style California rolls. While the rolls did not disappoint, the whole experience in the restaurant was a huge let down. When we first walked in, we already noticed the whole place being empty and feeling dead. We had to say hello 3x before the waitress (with equally dead eyes and lethargic attitude) looked up from her phone to bring us to a table. Even when she was attempting to give us and explain the menu she was basically muttering so much we could barely understand her. Meal overall was ok. I would only order take out going forward if I could. As we were in the middle of the meal we noticed a family of 5 who came in separately. The last “aunt” who came in decided to park directly in front of the entrance and blocking the front entrance (I regret not taking a photo). I asked the staff how were we supposed to leave the restaurant? She glanced over and basically said u can squeeze by (meaning thru a tiny sliver of space or climbing on top of a concrete block to cross over). Mind you I’m heavily pregnant and would not be able to achieve either. I had to ask her again - how do you expect me as a pregnant woman to leave? She then reluctantly asked the guest to move her car (the guest was annoyed that she had to oblige and felt it was in her right to park there). If your restaurant had any common sense, you wouldn’t want any car to block the entrance and prevent customers from entering or exiting. But it shows how poor the foot traffic is that the staff doesn’t even care. I noticed there were a few delivery pick ups so there are a few customers that do enjoy the food (just not at the restaurant) so would recommend the...
Read moreThe reason why we visit this restaurant is because its a pet friendly restaurant. We were there 2 times with our dog and the experience was totally different 1st time was good where they welcome our dog and very friendly to us. 1st visit was during weekday evening time. 2nd time , Today , we visited at lunchtime, obviously More customers than weekday. We were told to sit at the window side table as we had dog. We settle down and about to order but then the waitress came to us and requested us politely to move to another table because the customers next to our table did not like dog . I hope that CA roll can improve the way of handling the feeling of customers in a better way . Could it be better to ask the customers first if they are ok of a dog sitting next to them before We move into the table ?Or explain to them that your restaurant indeed welcome pet , and offer the customers to move to another table as They are the one that raised complain? Anyway, I left the restaurant , did not comment or say anything at all at that moment because I did not want to disturb other customers. I raise 4 stars cos the food is good , restaurant is clean . I hope it’s only one time bad experience and would like to let those dog owner whom want to bring the dogs there be a...
Read moreComing from California myself, this was a huge letdown for me. After living in Taiwan for a year I was SO looking forward to finding a spot that serves california-style sushi and rolls but this was just not it. The sushi and ginger is way too sugary and sweet, and the California rolls don't even have avocado in them, only imitation crab and a tiny bit of cucumber (how can you even call them California rolls without avocado?!). The flavors are just off, and anything fried is really greasy and dripping in oil. The batter isn't light like tempura should be.
We also ordered sauteed vegetables and the teriyaki chicken. The vegetables were bland and overcooked (broccoli turning yellow and putrid), and the chicken was dry with chunks of fat still intact. I'm so disappointed ☹️☹️☹️
Unfortunately because I'm pregnant I can't try the raw sushi rolls just yet but my experience with the crab and unagi on the menu was already so poor I don't know if I'll be back.
I really hope they add less sugar to the ginger in the future though, it's sickening. More vinegar, less sugar please. Same...
