I think eating their homemade handmade local food is really an interesting experience to do if you are in Taitung! Price is 300 per person for eating and if you also want a foot bath you should spend additional 300 twd. They also sell some tea, wooden objects, soaps, their olives etc although a little bit expensive (as normal for a good restaurant as it is!).
As first, I should say that as other people said we booked to make sure they were open and that we could eat some food. Although I have some allergies, they have been so nice and understanding with me and us!!! They are really kind! And they told us to come at 17:40 instead of 18:00 as the road would get dark without lights so for safety it would be better to arrive before it would be too dark.
Then, we were traveling around near the Riverside Park, Bayu falls and we saw also the Qingjue temple which is the nearest thing to see near the restaurant. To reach this restaurant from the temple although it was near it was a little bit steep so since we were riding a scooter we had to pay attention to how we rode it.
When we arrived they were really nice and they asked us to wash our hands first and then they prepared for us a tea with the High Mountain Chrisantemum grown by them. It was really delicious and it tasted very similar to chamomile!
Then they gave us to eat several dishes: the usual white rice bowls, two dishes of green vegetables, one braised tofu, another homemade dish which felt like vegan meat made from soy (although they don't say it is vegan meat but it tastes delicious and like vegan meat), a soup with tofu skin and mushrooms! The most delicious dishes were the braised tofu and the other dish made with soy.
The food all tasted authentic, special and delicious!
They also made us try some of their plums, olives and the fermented olives and honey small drink!
The owner was really nice and talked with us about the food and also about the Falun Dafa as they support it and gave us many interesting information.
However she mostly speaks Chinese so best to come here if you are traveling with a Taiwanese friend/boyfriend/girlfriend etc or with someone who speaks Chinese.
It should also be said that they don't have a menu so they will prepare the food also based on what you can/can't eat (for example for allergies).
It is really an experience to try if you are in Taitung and in Zhiben! Really authentic food and nice owner! Suggested 100%!!! Just pay attention when driving car/riding scooter and give them a call at least a few hours in advance to book a table!

Read moreBefore I visited this Longquan tea house, I had no idea that I actually have been using their essential oil products for many years already. My favourite products are citronella oil to prevent from mosquito bite and lavender oil to enhance sleep quality.
It's fabulous to find this family run tea house, feel like finding a secret garden, full of surprise.
My family and I spent few hours there to enjoy lunch and tea. When it was raining heavily outside, the surrounding view was magnificent and I miss fresh air like this. I also like the way how they prepared and presented the vegetarian food.
Normally I'm a coffee person, but through chatting with the owners and seeing the passion about tea in their eyes, I became curious about the tea culture. I particularly love the chrysanthemum tea which is grown, dried and roasted all by their own family.
Visiting Longquan tea house is definitely a great immersive experience to learn culture of tea. We highly recommend...

I would highly recommend it even if you aren’t normally vegetarian. It has a excellent selection of drinks too. There are lovely views of the valley, and you can even bathe your feet in hotspring water while looking out on the valley. Highly...
