Came here while on tour and tour guide suggested to us to have the deep fried prawn rolls. The restaurant is fairly clean and not too busy when we arrived.
You have to fill a order form and queue to place your order and collect your food from the counter. When i was ordering there was about 4 people ahead of me and only 1 out of 3 counters were open despite the fact that there was a lady at the counter doing nothing but wiping unused trays (she later stood at the counter waiting to take orders when there was no one ordering).
We ordered the soup noodles, dried noodles, fish skin soup, deep fried prawn rolls and squid balls, red tea and a tofu jelly in almond milk. Price was pretty reasonable.
Food was fairly average as the noodles were quite bland while the red tea was too sweet. Only the tofu jelly was really good. Service was fairly average too although it was quite fast service once you manage to place an order and pay at the counter. Place was also fairly clean except the toilet which smelled and was very wet.
There is a souvenir store within the restaurant and the lady there was quite nice. When we asked if there was a cleaner place to change our 2 yo daughter's nappy, she suggested that we head upstairs to use the cleaner toilet to do so.
Overall, nothing really to shout about and probably better options in...
Read more周氏 delivers a magnificent rendition of famous street eats at Taiwan. We tried in particular the 擔仔冬粉湯麵 (NT50) and 炸蝦捲 (NT65 for 2 pieces).
The vermicelli soup was extremely comforting, even on a warm spring afternoon. Vermicelli was cooked al dente, and went well with the scallions, pork slices, fresh shrimp and braised minced pork.
The fried prawn rolls were out-of-this-world fabulous! I’ve grown up eating all sorts of prawn rolls that I would deem myself the connoisseur of prawn rolls in Singapore, but 周氏’s (or rather Tainan’s) was packed with fresh prawns that still retained a hearty bite, and enclosed within a light yet crunchy batter. Gobbled these so quickly on its own (you don’t need any dipping sauce!) that I couldn’t recall if the prawn rolls had any other accompany ingredients. Do...
Read moreFood is good. It is definitely worth a visit. The texture of shrimp rolls is great. You can taste chunks of shrimps that's been hand chopped rather than shredded in a big mixer. They serve garlic with your order, and it does help to wash a way some of the oily ness when you are eating deep fried food. I just wish that they could serve beers to wash away the oily ness, but the only serve slightly sugared black tea for beverage. I think one set of shrimps and fish cake is enough for a grown up. The dry rice noodles is ok. I don't know if they provide a English meny, since I use a translator app to translate the order ticket. I...
