老四川巴蜀麻辣燙 桃園店 — Restaurant in Taoyuan City

This is perhaps one of the best spicy hot pot restaurants in Taoyuan.

To start, we were given the complimentary 川味涼粉. Even with the amazing hot pot, this was the best dish of the night. The sauce was spicy, sweet, and sour, while the glassy noodles provided a nice bite. The sesame, peanuts, and green onions added to the textures and flavors as well. Overall, this dish was truly a symphony of flavors and textures, serving as a wonderful appetizer for the rest of the meal.

For the broth, we picked the 絕選麻辣鍋 (red) and the 養生白味鍋 (white). The red broth was quite spicy at first, but once the hot oil was sucked up by the 油條, the soup became more mellow. The fragrant spiciness translates well to the various toppings. Of course, their AYCE tofu and duck blood were very rich and delicious. Their meats and dumplings were very high quality as well. The white broth was good on its own, though it might not be that flavorful after your palette has been numbed by the spicy hot pot. It is still a good broth to cook your vegetables in, though!

Additionally, their sour plum juice pairs well with the spicy hot pot. They also have a drink and dessert station as well.

The service was pretty great. We got our meals very fast after ordering using a QR code. The servers would often come around to add more soup and toppings for us. The Chinese decor and atmosphere is very lively, too.
