Absolutely horrible experience. We went there in the morning of January 14. The woman who is the owner of the club greeted us. We ordered breakfast, and later on ordered lunch (fish with rice and vegetables). Fish came really dry and not eatable, mostly bones. Service is slow. We came with our tour guide whom we paid for transport, forests hiking and boat ride. When we were leaving I asked woman to give me receipt to pay for the meal. She gave me bill and included forest hiking and boat ride. When I told her that hiking and boat ride was paid to your guide and she needs to talk to him and all we would pay was for the meal. She did not want to remove those charges. Her son Alaska intervened and finally we paid for the food and left. When we got into the car to go back to our accommodation the Moto bike was following us. When we asked the tour guide what was going on he said nothing to worry about that he has to give them something. Later on at 12 midnight the crazy woman from the restaurant appeared by the door of my Airbnb accommodation together with the guy who was following us and started to demand money for the hiking, boat ride and meal. When I explained her that meal was paid and she needs to talk to her son and hiking/boat fee she needs to deal with your guide as we paid him, she started going in and on. How dear you showed up at my place to demand money when we had nothing to do with this? Who gave her our address? Apparently she called taxi driver to find out where he took us and when he explained her she followed his direction and came to our place. When we called her to find out how she got our address, she said Arusha is small and everyone know each other which was nonsense. Then she said she put our tour guide to jail because he did not pay her, and we should rescue him by going to her place and pay her $100 which was absurd. The people there are scammers, they try to take advantage of foreigners and the owner, woman who gave us hard time is very vicious and mentally unstable and should not run business like this by targeting tourists who come just to relax by the lake and have a good time. Stay away from her. And if you pay your bill take photo and video that you paid them because they don't take credit card, and later on will accuse you for not paying. Don't trust people in Arusha, it's not safe place to be and you have to watch yourself...
Read moreThe place is pretty and cool. but understanding the actual park fees is not good here. You should go to the last place at the end of the road, the actual tourist office, to get information. The different restaurants and random people around the lake will charge you as much as possible for boat ride and entrance fee. Also they told me the price of one thing on the menu. I asked 3 times, and I asked 2 different people. When I came to pay the price was, of course, higher. It is not just here but at the second restaurant you will also get lied about entrance fees. The lake entrance fee is apparently 5 USD for a foreigner. Boat hire is on top. Then there's a different price for...
