Kukurico Restaurant, Mikocheni — Restaurant in Dar es-Salaam

We ordered the Kukurico platter and a few drinks. The place was quite empty for dinner on a weekday. We sat indoors and there was another table where they had customers. The server was cordial but it seems like they need proper training. It was food for 5 people, we were 4 in our group. The food arrived first and only after 5 minutes the plates arrived. This could have been done before the food is served. Now the taste of the food: The platter was a mix of different types of meat items with 4 types sauces. Some items different pieces had too much salt or no salt (lemon chicken). Mbuzi was very tender and tasty. Rico pops were nice too! Music and ambiance was good and I give a big thumbs up 👍 for it. Still the platter felt expensive considering the taste and everything. It’s not veg/ vegan friendly as you already know by the name as it is ‘Kuku-rico’. There is room to improve the service. The ambience is inviting, and the food is surprisingly good. But that’s where the compliments end. The service? Absolutely pathetic.

The waiters take forever to serve you—so long that you might start wondering if they’ve gone on a pilgrimage before bringing your order. It’s frustrating, to say the least. What’s worse, customers are left wiping their own tables! Is this an understaffing issue or just sheer negligence? Either way, it’s unacceptable.

It’s a shame because this place has potential. But unless they train their staff properly or hire more hands, they’ll keep losing customers. If you have the patience of a saint and don’t mind playing part-time waiter, go for the food. Otherwise, save yourself the...

Kukurico is a 5 star because they delivered on every meal i had there. We did not wait long for the food and it was delicious! The food was hot and tasty we enjoy it thoroughly ! The customer service was really nice! We loved Doreen’s service the most from when we went there for the first time. While parking is available it is not that big so if you go during pick times you might hustle to get a parking space. However that does not take away from the over all experience of the place. Washrooms were clean and beautiful. The hand washing sinks were clean to which is really good. Although i did not take pictures of the outside space i have to say it is very nice.
