Are you allergic to some food ingredients or vegan? BE AWARY! I wouldn't recommend it if you don't want to be killed.
Visited this place now the second time. Terrible experience. Unfortunately, the waiter didn't speak English and was not interested in my wishes even i asked so many times before order. It's okay for me when something is not possible but you need to communicate with you as guest. Because I like to eat natural and no animal things. So i ordered the first evening with a non-vegan friend a vegetable pizza to share with her but she wanted her half with cheese. The kitchen didn't care about dividing in a half so in the end i had only 1/3 pizza without cheese (i was more hungry than my friend) and she 2/3. and in the end it costed not 19,000 like described on menu card but 22,000 with an overprized and over sweetened mocktail for 16,000. In the end it was ok because of music.
One day later was so terrible. I visited it again because of sea air and beach with another friend. The pizza we ve got was already COLD? The taste was ok, but nothing special. The biggest scam was that i just ordered one juice for my friend and asked more than one time if it is without sugar?! That's why i didnt want one because i thought they do it with added sugar. Actually i wanted just a pinapple juice but two days in a row they didn't had any pinapple juice...insane. As the waiter brought it i asked again if it's without sugar what he CONFIRMED but it WASNT! Lot of artificial syrup! NO fresh juice. All convenience i think! But more worse was that HE BROUGHT TWO mocktails!! And he lied that i ordered two only because he couldn't speak English as well without telling this and was not able to communicate how i found out in the end. Terrible to poison their own guests. Additionally they expected to pay for both overpriced and artificial juice (no fresh fruits or anything what i actually wanted to order and asked nicely before and decided only to order for my friend.) Even i said that i ordered one (i said it even in Swahili "MOJA" and wouldn't need a second one.) BIG SCAM! then the salad i ordered and said that i dont need any vinegraitte or mayonnaise because i like the natural vegan way. That's why i asked if it is possible to get the salad raw maybe with a bit drops of olive oil and salt and he confirmed again that he understood!! And again: they ignored it and put mustard dressing on it!!! Im thankful that he at least made it new but again not with olive oil or anything. Just raw. But it was eatable. Very dangerous when you are allergic! If you have a lot of food allergies i wouldnt recommend that place. They could kill you just by not caring about your order and confirming your wishes. I will never come back to such a horrible service and bad food restaurant. It would have been okay when he took back the second juice but trying to attack me and saying im the liar that i ordered two is his boss loosing a good money guest. Ruined the whole appointment with my friend. It's an impudence to deliver things i didn't order and let ME PAY for THEIR FAULTS!!!! No apologies, no sorry, no try to solve the solution. Just calling me the liar. Insane service. Never ever again. It's a pitty because the...
Read moreI’ve had the chance to eat at Sawa Sawa Bay Resort on three separate afternoons — Tuesday, Sunday, and Friday — and each visit has been enjoyable and consistent in many ways. The resort has a wide, open seating layout with plenty of options, though the most coveted seats are the three beachside tables with umbrellas. Thankfully, I was able to grab one of those spots two out of my three visits. If you’re hoping to sit there, it’s worth arriving early or being a bit patient.
Service can be a bit slow to start — it took around 10 minutes each time before staff brought the menu, and food usually arrived about 30 minutes after ordering. However, the staff more than make up for it with their kind and attentive attitude. They check in regularly to make sure you have everything you need, and they’re always happy to assist.
The menu is surprisingly broad, offering a variety of fixed selections. I tried both the beef burger and the chicken burger, priced at 16,000 Tanzanian shillings each. Each time, the presentation was appealing and the taste was consistently good, though there were small variations — like the presence or absence of avocado or sauce — which added a bit of surprise to each visit. It’s worth noting that not everything is always available; the beef burger wasn’t an option one of the times I visited.
The overall atmosphere at the resort is relaxed and welcoming. There are fun activities like horse riding on the beach and pellet shooting for 5,000 shillings, which add a playful touch to the setting. Music is present but never overbearing, and the whole space is very clean — including the bathrooms, which is always a good sign. Shade can be limited on hot days, so it’s smart to plan where you sit depending on your preference for sun or shade.
One important tip: you’re not allowed to bring any drinks or liquids from outside — they will be confiscated at the entrance, so plan accordingly.
Overall, Sawa Sawa Bay Resort offers a beautiful, relaxing spot with good food, friendly staff, and enough variety to keep each visit interesting. I’ll definitely be...
