We stayed for 4 nights . On the first night it rained heavily The water came through the wall causing the wall at the entrance to be wet and as I’m in my mid sixties, I was worried of slipping. They said they will give another towel for the floor. My son and I were shocked. And the owner said the rain will stop soon. (It didn’t) I was pretty angry by then . But being a Saturday there were no hotel rooms available anywhere. They also said that they were full. So they gave us a room that they have not used . It was not ready for guests , as we had no choice as it was almost midnight. We waited while they cleaned it. It had two enormous geckos in it, scary but we put up with it. The next day the owner apologized for being unsympathetic. We couldnt be bothered to move to another place after that only because the restaurant at the retreat was amazing. Great Thai food and amazing pizza and pasta by their Italian chef. Their choice of desserts were good. Restaurant staffs were 10/10. The relaxation atmosphere around the restaurant was great. The pool was small but good enough. They also had foot massage which we had and body massage (we did not have)Would I stay there again absolutely not. But I will go for the restaurant which is open for the public. No safe to put valuables in the rooms. Location is about 20 minutes from the city. I would have been happy to leave some tips but i was not even given a discount for all the trouble we went through on our first night, we didn’t settle in our room until after 1 am. As they had to clean it. No...
Read moreA lovely little place to stay for a couple of nights; traditional wood buildings house the bedrooms, all set around a sala in the middle as a traditional home would have been. The rooms are lovely and big, the toilet arrangement is weird being outside (but totally private) and downstairs but I quite like that quirkiness. The TV only had about 2 channels working and I am sure that the bed was shorter than a normal bed as my feet were danging off the end but otherwise all was great in the room. The pond area is especially beautiful and tranquil. Never used the pool but looked nice enough. Love that you have to take your shoes off before you go to the rooms, makes it feel more homely and the staff are super helpful and nice. It is a retreat, so not very close to the centre of Ayutthaya, you will need transport as the route into town (about 4 kilometres) does not have a footpath so is not safe to walk. But if you book a retreat, you expect it to not be in the centre, the clue is in the name. Breakfast was fine, love the traditional Thai snacks that come with it and fruit, nicer than a buffet style breakfast. Prices looked expensive for dinner, but never had dinner here. Daytimes can get busy with many people coming to have a coffee and take 3000000 photos...
Read moreIt is a lovely place and i would recommend. |However for the money which is more than many in Ayutthaya there were a couple of issues. When we arrived around 7:15pm there was no one at reception we waited 10 minutes calling out ‘hello’ but no one came. When we went looking all the staff were sat around a bench in the restaurant all on their phones and chatting. We said we had a long day travelling and wanted to eat. The restaurant closed at 8pm so then the check felt rushed. Also as a vegetarian i was very disappointed at the lack of options on the menu, it has great reviews for food but they couldn’t adapt any dishes, so i only really had a choice of fried rice on the couple of times we ate there. |We choose somewhere that was a bit more pricey and did expect a better welcome and service.|Having said all that the place is lovely, the room was fabulous and the breakfast was the best we have experienced in Thailand as an inclusive breakfast. Delicious.|We would definitely recommend the Thai Massages.|It is further away from the centre and it was around 200 baht for a Tuk Tuk, but we knew this when we booked.|Overall a super place with charm...
