Best experience in Thailand!! So much more than just a cooking class. Pat welcomed us into his home, explained and involved us in the customs of his people. It was interesting to learn about the layers of his family's beliefs, beyond simple Buddhism. We experienced these things, and we're just told. We learned about his family as we spent time in the home to five generations of his family. It's a wonderful compound, with an outdoor kitchen, herb garden, elevated barns and a home for the remaining four generations. Pat is a very likeable person who has the heart of a teacher; he wants you to understand. He explains the benefits of the herbs, while giving you some to taste, and wrapping you with a citronella leaf to keep the mosquitoes away. We made four fun and wonderful dishes, preparing the ingredients and cooking in woks and clay pots over wood fire stoves. We tasted as we added ingredients and experienced the difference they would make. It's remarkable to prepare ingredients you are not used to cooking with and creating a dish you may have had at a restaurant a few days prior, not to mention having picked the herbs in the backyard. Pat also helped you understand the tricks to making it taste its best, and what would ruin it. The food was delicious and people were the best. Highly recommend and happy to answer...
Read moreI highly recommend this unique Thai cooking and cultural experience. It was one of the highlights of our trip. We got to learn about the history, religious beliefs, and traditions of this Lanna family. We saw their garden full of fresh vegetables, various fruits, spices, and herbs. Then you get to enjoy a private cooking class. The chef who instructed us spoke excellent English, was entertaining and personable, and kept us fully engaged. It was really fun!! And, they were very accommodating to our dietary preferences and spice level. We learned how to prepare some popular Thai dishes. And then enjoyed eating the delicious lunch we created! At the end, you get a link to the recipes, which is great as I’m really inspired to cook these...
Read moreA truly unique experience that is clearly made by the family. The comedic genius that was our guide had my group of 15 all dying from laughter from the start. As you are taken around the property and the house, you learn about the culture of the Lang people and the family's history. After the tour, we got to experience some tea and sit down with the host and talk about how the tea was made. A cooking class and garden tour were next and everything was spot on. Finally, dinner was great. The food they taught us to make tasted very refreshing and felt like you were...
