Jerns Chiangdao — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

I've eaten here many times. Time for a review as each time I get more and more disappointed with the food. Staff is friendly but poor English; atomosphere is pleasant but no air con. If hot outside it is hot inside. But the quality of the food and consistancy varies especially meat items like steak, ribs and prime rib etc. I've given up ordering any of those items. Even the hamburgers vary with too much fat and sinew at times. But most of the time they are fine. The wraps are fine. Burgers are usually ok. Not real impressed with the pizza but compared to others it is ok. To me it seems to be a quality control issue. Prices to me are high comparable to Dukes in Chiang Mai. I think management has decided to target the tourists who can't easily compare prices. And it is true prices have gone up across the board in Chiang Mai and Chiang Dao everywhere. The atmosphere is fun and nostalgic of the American 70s and 80s. The menu looks great. However...

Food took about 30 minutes to arrive and we were the only order. The burger is small. It came with literally 7 fries. Fries tasted great. Burger was below average...not sure where the beef came from :(

Avocado mushroom salad wrap contained neither avocado nor mushrooms. The fish and chips was over fried to the point that even my child wouldn't eat it. My other children ordered burgers but one wouldn't eat it because it didn't taste good.

My drinking water contained a live swimming mosquito larva in my cup.

The bathroom was full of mosquitoes!

We never received the ceasar salad after waiting an hour and so we left and they took it off our bill.

Adorable little place.

The carbonara is absolutely divine. Sadly their signature burger is dry, flavorless and smothered in disgustingly sweet/hot sauce. Absolutely the worst burger I have had in a while.

When compared to their divinely rich, super creamy carbonara the disparity is just too shocking.

One of us got food that was mouth wateringly appealing (drool worthy), the other got food that was mouth wateringly wretched (almost lost her lunch).

I would say as long as you get something you like. This place will absolutely leave you wanting to come back for more. If you get a miss. Do not give up on the restaurant. Try something else because I assure you. The good food is...
