My Forest Cafe — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

What an amazing place !

I just wandered in here,chancing upon it during a bike ride through the neighbouring villages. Being inquisitive, I simply had to go in and have a look.

It is part of the recently re-opened Lanmai Faichang resort and is run by a very pleasant and welcoming couple who were happy to let me walk in and wander around asking questions etc. They both speak excellent English and told me that they had only been open for just over a week.

I have to confess that I did not actually stay at the resort or look at any of the 32 chalets it has and nor did I eat at the cafe as it had closed for the evening,but walking into the place just hit me with this “Wow” factor !

There are waterfalls, trees, all sorts of vegetation, mist, and everything else you’d expect to see walking through the jungle or indeed a forest, from where the cafe gets its name.

One simply has to marvel at the work that went into creating this marvellous environment. It has to be a photographer’s delight, especially with the “selfie” crowds and would be a wonderful refuge on a hot day.

I will definitely be back to have a coffee and sample the food.

If you are visiting Baan Tawai, this is a good possibility for lunch. However, yesterday, Tuesday October 17, 2023 my wife and I and two friends came for a late lunch about 1:30 p.m. There were maybe a dozen people already in the restaurant.

There were no stars available above for management. But yesterday it was very poor. There was only one lovely young girl doing everything. She did a wonderful job but the poor thing was severely overburdened.

She took our order went to the kitchen and prepared each meal one after the other and served it. This little girl was very gracious and given the circumstances did a fantastic job. My comment is there should have been at least two other people helping her. Everything was slow.
