The reviews of the Giant have been variable. I'll do my best to give you my opinion from an American perspective. We have 2 teenagers - one is a little more adventurous when it come to trying new foods than the other. We stayed here one night. We went during the rainy season just after the birthday celebration for the King of Thailand. This means there was hardly anyone else there. I think we were the only folks to stay the night and we did not see any other visitors until the following morning.||||The drive out to the Giant from Chiangmai is rather long. It takes 30-45 minutes to get from the city to the base of the mountain. From there, you must take a smaller 4 wheel drive truck up to the mountain top. The charge for the round trip up and back from the base of the mountain is about 500 baht. It's another 30 minutes from the base of the mountain to the Giant. The road up the mountain is curvy, full of pot holes, and treacherous drop offs. I would not recommend taking your personal vehicle up there unless it's a jeep. I would also not recommend going up or down the mountain poor visibility or bad weather. ||||The views from the top at the Giant are really spectacular. We arrived in the late afternoon and the temperatures were cool. We watched the mist roll down off the mountain tops and coalesce into a rainforest downpour. Thankfully we were undercover and dry but enjoyed the show that mother nature put on for us.||||Dinner was served at 6pm. Others have remarked about poor food quality and poor service, but that was not our experience. As noted, I think we were the only guests there that night. The table was ready for us at 6pm - 2 different soups, egg omelette, 2 kinds of stir fried vegetables, and fried pork. This was a set menu of Thai food so we never saw the a la carte menu. I've had a lot of good Thai food, and I can say that this spread was in the average to above average range. We were also given some complimentary snacks (dried fruit) and some coffee infused bath soaps.||||The rooms are not 5 star but they are adequate. You come for the scenery, not the accommodations. If you are from the US, then these rooms would be of the motel quality. The rooms were damp due to all the recent rain and there were some minor plumbing issues (the bathroom sink leaked onto the floor). However, the sheets and towels were clean and the bed fairly comfortable. At night, the cacophony of rainforest sounds was amazing. You really feel like you are in the jungle. There is a chicken coop on premises and the rooster will crow quite early in the morning.||||We chose the American breakfast in the morning. This consisted of a fried egg, 2 slices of fried ham, two hot dogs, and a slice of toast with butter. Nothing extravagant, but quite adequate. The coffee was good and strong.||||Our kids really enjoyed the novelty of sleeping in a treehouse and the feeling of truly being in the jungle. If you have toddlers, you will need to watch them carefully as the Giant is probably not the best choice for the very young or the very old. Overall, this was an enjoyable visit and I'm...

Read moreThe worst service with rude manner. I was there with my colleagues on 16th June 2024 for a short day trip to Mae Kam Pong and visited there as well. We were all together 7 people. At first 5 people went inside first while 2 people left the entrance to take photos for a while. My colleagues were ordering foods and waiting for us at the table they chose at the edge. When the waiter knew we were 7 people,he told us it's not allowed to sit at the table we chose. We were asking him how we had to sit then. He went back to the coffee bar and a minute later, their senior or the owner(we were not sure), rushed to us and shouted in sharp voice with a rude manner and worst attitude, " move, move". We were suprised and got angry, we were like, 'What?!' if they're not okay, they could explain us politely and we were willing to follow the rules as we were civilian tourists and we were going there to SPEND our money. He treated as if we were there for free foods and just taking photos. He ruined our good mood and we were not able to enjoy the nature or the moment to the fullest. We were very angry and complained about it to the younger staff. But the one who yelled at us didn't even apologize to us for his rude attitude. So much disappointment and left with BAD memory. The tastes were just ordinary, if i had to say honestly, not good at all. The scenery was very great, however, we couldn't enjoy with peace. The young staffs were trying to be nice but the senior one was a shame for this tourist attraction place which we had to drive through...
