Little Bistro 87 — Restaurant in Chon Buri Province

Little Bistro 87 enjoys a quiet location on Soi Nongkrabork. It is a friendly, family run Bistro with a full menu of European meals and Thai favourites. Their weekend special menu consists of 4-courses with a choice of 2 dishes per course. All for THB.325!

As a couple we were able to enjoy all the dishes on the menu. The meal started with Paprika Cream Soup or Thai Soup with coconut or chicken. The Paprika soup was fresh, creamy and full of paprika flavour, excellent. The Thai Soup was also very tasty, with vibrant flavours, chicken pieces and succulent mushrooms.

This was followed by a choice of Avocado-Mango Salsa with Prawns or Lasagne. The Avocado Mango Salsa was a superb pairing of flavours with the almost opposite flavours of the mango and the avocado combining perfectly with the very light dressing. The prawns were plump and fresh and the sunflower shoots added colour to this creative dish. The Lasagne looked very creamy but was again bursting with flavour. The meat was succulently seasoned and combined to make another excellent dish.

Fortunately we were given some time before the main courses of Duck Breast in red wine jus and Salmon Steak on Lemon Sauce. The duck dish was again excellent, succulent duck-breast with caramelised onion and jus sauce. The beans were wrapped with extremely tasty bacon. The potato waffles were a slight disappointment being still cold in the middle. However, this did not diminish an excellent dish. The Salmon was a large but slim steak which resulted in it being slightly over cooked and a little dry. The lemon sauce was plentiful light and bursting with lemon aroma which mixed well with the al-dente tagliatelle. This dish was served with an appetising side salad.

Mango Mouse with coconut cream was the dessert and was again brimming with flavour and was a superb sweet complement to an excellent meal. The cheese board was superb with 7 different cheeses to completely fill our stomachs.

An excellent and filling meal, incredible value for money at THB.325. Drinks are reasonably priced at THB.220 for a drinkable white wine and soda at THB.25. Little Bistro 87 is quite small with only about 20 seats so bookings are recommended. Grateful thanks to Klaus and his team for an excellent evening.

I was really hungry when went to this restaurant and was looking forward to go through the German menu and order few different things. But I felt that someone who works there and served me, just really wanted me to go for the set (weekend) menu. So I didn’t get a chance to explore other dishes and meals and dessert from their main menu. I went with the flow and ordered the set menu choice with a fixed prices of 410 THB. Food was fresh, made nicely. I enjoyed creamy soup, the starter and main were fish dishes which I am not a fan of, but I had a go and try and ate it: Salmon Zucchini Patties with mustard-honey sauce wasn’t nice, cold and lack of taste. Barramundi fillet on ratatouille with dill potatoes wasn’t the best, especially potatoes, wasn’t sure if it was the type of potato or it was yesterday’s potatoes. Fruit salad with lime ice cream was really nice. I couldn’t check the price of drinks as the main menu was taken from me straight away. The reason I am giving only two stars for this experience is that when I was having my meal. The lady came out from the kitchen still wearing hairnet with the lit cigarette in her mouth, stand at the door inside checking something on her tablet or phone device without any rush to leave the restaurant and go to smoke that cigarette outside. The cigarette smoke reached me, felt sick. I just can’t stand the smell of cigarette, let alone to smell and inhale that whilst eating my food. After a minute or so she left the inside of restaurant and had her cigarette outside, but my meal and appetite was gone. Such an appalling etiquette of staff to do it whilst customers...

Durch Zufall entdeckte ich das "Little Bistro 87" an einer außerhalb der üblichen Wege liegenden Straße. Obwohl es bereits recht spät war, entschied ich mich, mir diese Lokalität genauer anzuschauen. Schon beim Eintreten fällt ins Auge, dass der Gastgeber europäischer Abstammung sein muss. Dem Namen gerecht werdend, erweckt das Ambiente den Eindruck viele tausend Kilometer entfernt zu sein. Der Blick in die gut gegliederte, vielsprachige Speisekarte weckt Begehrlichkeiten, in meinem Fall nach einer Rinderroulade. Da diese zu gegebener Zeit (21:00) nicht mehr vorrätig war, wurde mir das Wochenmenü angeboten. Es war alles sehr gut zubereitet und geschmacklich ein Genuss.
