During a recent visit to an Italian restaurant located in Ramkhamhaeng 17, Bangkok, I encountered one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have had to date. From the moment my family and I walked in, we were met with poor service, overpriced dishes, and questionable practices that raised serious concerns. What was intended to be a pleasant family meal turned into an evening of frustration and discomfort.
The restaurant’s pricing was unreasonably high, with each dish costing over 500 baht — a premium rate even by Bangkok standards. We ordered two spaghetti dishes and a spinach and cheese plate, all of which were served cold and lacked freshness or flavor. Disturbingly, the restaurant allowed customers to share a single bowl of pasta, which contradicts traditional Italian dining etiquette and felt inappropriate for such a high-end establishment. Additionally, we were served a brand of water that was unfamiliar and tasted similar to tap water, yet we were charged 60 baht per glass. Even more concerning was the fact that the staff appeared to pour water from a shared bottle used for other tables, raising hygiene and ethical issues.
Our concerns deepened when we discovered an item on our bill that we had never ordered: a clam soup. This led us to believe that the restaurant may have intentionally added items in hopes that we would not notice. When we asked about the water charges, we were told we had received two glasses, even though none of us had explicitly ordered them. We also observed staff discarding water awkwardly while pouring it into our glasses, further suggesting they were attempting to manipulate the perception of service. These actions created an atmosphere of mistrust and left us feeling deceived.
The overall ambiance of the restaurant was equally disappointing. The waitstaff appeared uncomfortable and evasive, as if they were attempting to hide something from customers. Their lack of professionalism and transparency significantly detracted from the experience. Given the high prices, poor food quality, and questionable service practices, I would not recommend this restaurant to others. It is my sincere hope that the management addresses these issues seriously, as no customer should have to endure such treatment in any dining...
Read moreA lifetime experience! Is this restaurant for real or is it closing down? We went for a meal on Wednesday 24th June. We were given a comprehensive menu which look good, however most of the menu was not available when we ordered! Squid starters, sorry no squid! Avocado salad, sorry we don't have any Avocado! Spaghetti with Seafood, sorry not available. So what's going on I asked? Only one Chef. This was the same excuse last time our friends came to this restaurant. The final straw was when we asked for the wine menu and the waiter came back with two bottles of wine! Yes wait for it .......... they only had one brand of red and white!!!! The food we had was only average. Spaghetti carbonara was dry with no sauce! One can only assume they are closing down, as there is no way you can run a business like this with prices of a high class restaurants. It surly was a lifetime experience. 4500 THB for 3 of us with 3 glasses of wine for a meal that wasn't our choice but what was...
Read moreFood is ridiculously overpriced, waited a long time for each dish to come out, not sure if that is intentionally done to mimic a “course” style meal or if the kitchen was just short staffed. Food was fine, a little salty. The owner claimed that she had the best steak in Thailand, a bold statement but nowhere near true considering we paid 3900THB for 360g of Wagyu beef (I get that it’s Wagyu and it tastes good but no it is not worth 3900, maybe 2000 at most).
Good Italian food is hard to find in Bangkok and I really wanted to like Delicatezza, if the price wasn’t so pretentious then maybe I would enjoy my experience much more.
For good pasta check out Ranee’s near Khao San or Pasta Ama at Ratchathewi or even Nam Nam at...
