Mahadsajan Ko Yo Seafood Songkhla — Restaurant in Ko Yo Island

There was a stretch of other restaurants/ bars where this restaurant was located at but decided to try this out cause seeing that it might be a local experience and the reviews were good. Turns out I was right as there were a lot of locals that patrons this place. Followed the instructions to queue at queue point, told to go straight in by the host as there were only the 2 of us so we chose a vacant table and sat there while the other tables are already ordering their food A group of people walked in to the table with the menu already on the table and 5 min later, the waitress is already taking the orders. In the meantime, we tried to get hold of any host / waitress (at least 5 of them) that only resulting in asking us to wait. Another 10 min later, there’s still no menu on my table and nobody cared to asks us anything. Guess this place is only for the locals or those that are fluent in Thai language but I speak non. Decided to walk out 10min later without even able to try their food so to speak as we aren’t even able to view the menu. Felt like they don’t entertain tourists and only entertained locals. We came in a group and ordered several dishes — most were delicious and reasonably priced. However, we had a very unpleasant experience with one particular item: the mangosteen salad.

Initially, we declined the dish when the waitress recommended it. She insisted it was very delicious, so we finally agreed to try it — but only after confirming the price, which she told us was 50 THB. This item had no price listed on the menu, so we made sure to ask.

To our shock, the bill came charging 500 THB per dish, not 50. We confronted the waitress, but she insisted she said 500 THB, though several of us clearly heard 50 THB. There was no sincere apology, no effort to resolve the misunderstanding — instead, we felt brushed off and even mocked as they whispered behind the counter.

Due to the language barrier and being short on time, we didn’t pursue the matter further. But the whole incident felt like a scam tactic — upselling with unclear pricing and then refusing to take responsibility.

Very poor service support with average taste of food. This place came recommended for it's good food so we made a reservation for a table of When we arrived, no table was ready though reservation acknowledged. We had to wait while staff scrambled to assemble seating space. Food ordered came at random order and a plate of plain white rice came almost after all dishes were served. Tom Yam soup was served on a hotpot so that it can be kept hot. But the fire was not provided and we had to make several requests for this to be warmed up. After finishing our staples, an original order for a steamed fish still not delivered and restaurant had to concur to cancel the order as the fish was likely not prepared at all. Overall, food quality while using quite fresh ingredients, was only average. Rating was skewed towards the lower end because of the sloppy and poor service provided.
