This place is advertised and priced as a traditional Japanese restaurant. We were walking by and decided to stop in for a snack and a drink. Two beers, 3 pieces of nigiri, and one maki roll was just under $30 USD. This is about what I would expect to pay at a sushi place in the US.
The beers came out right away as well as some complimentary edamame which was unexpected and nice.
We were the only two in the restaurant. I noticed they were filling some takeout/delivery orders so I knew to be patient. The food took over 30 min. I made eye contact with our server and he walked over to the sushi bar and picked up a plate that had been sitting there for at least 15 min. I had assumed that the food was not ours…but it was and the fish was warm to the touch.
The soy sauce provided on the table was not traditional soy sauce. It was quite sweet. The rice was BROWN and unseasoned. I eat sushi regularly in the USA and have never even seen this before. I disliked the taste of everything I tried there. Safe to say we were disappointed and did not finish the food.

Kikuzuki Sake House – 4.0/5
Keep Kikuzuki Sake House is a hidden gem offering a calm, relaxing dining experience. The setting is elegant yet low-key, making it perfect for date nights or quiet dinners.
The staff is attentive, and the manager speaks very good English, which adds to the comfort. My wife really enjoyed the ramen and sushi — both were fresh and well-prepared. I had the garlic rice and beef; the garlic rice was decent, but the beef stood out as flavorful and cooked just right.
Pros:
Relaxing, peaceful atmosphere
Attentive service
English-speaking manager
Excellent ramen and sushi
Tasty beef dish
Clean and well-maintained interior
Cons:
Parking is limited
A bit hard to find unless you know exactly where to look
Garlic rice could be improved
All in all, it's definitely worth seeking out. Once you find it, you'll be glad you did.

Read moreThere are many reasons to visit Krabi and Kikuzuki is right at the top of the list when you are looking for world class food at the end of a days exploring. It’s not just the best restaurant in Ao Nang but right up there with the best Japanese food you will eat anywhere. Seriously this place is world class! Amazing fresh produce, some of the fish is even flown in direct from Japan. I was lucky enough to be there on my first visit the day a new Tuna was delivered and the O’toro melted away in my mouth like butter. They also have a fantastic selection of Junmai Daiginjo sake and Japanese beer on tap. Everything is beautifully presented and the staff extremely attentive. Ali runs a great shop and is there to help with any questions. It’s sometimes hard to find shishito peppers to go with the yakitori but they even have them. You will need to eat here more than once during your Krabi...
