Very average: the food, the drinks, the service, the ambience.
We are staying at Banyan Tree Krabi. We were told that Sri Tang is worth a go and being foodies, we decided to try it out. On arrival we got offered a choice of an indoor or an outdoor table as it wasn't busy at that time. So we sat outside.
The atmosphere was dull, even boring. It is also very dark. I had to use the torch on my phone throughout my meal to see what i am eating.
The male waiter asked about our allergies and in case we do not like smth. I said that i do not like ginger and lemongrass and my husband is vegan. He said he will manage it for us. He also gave my husband a vegan/vegetarian menu.
So the drinks... My husband ordered their signature Ice Tea and I ordered a virgin Colada. Colada had a weird tingly aftertaste. I asked to change it but it tasted still the same. I did not have it. The ice tea was not great either.
We ordered pomelo salad with scallops that was nice, but we have definitely had better. As a second appetizer we ordered tofu fried balls and those were nice enough too.
For the main my husband who is vegan ordered a pant based meat curry and i ordered crab in a yellow curry sauce. My husbands curry was nice as he said, but far from outstanding. My curry was bland and all i could taste was celery. So much celery! I picked it all out and put it on the side, but it still tasted like celery.
Not once the staff asked us if the food is nice and if we need anything else. They only asked if we would like more rice. After completing the meal we asked for the bill. Again the female waitress did not ask us how was the meal and just brought out the bill. We then asked for some toothpicks. Only then she brought out some toothpick and wet towels. Again didn't even ask how our dinner was. She did ask if we wanted a taxi and we said yes. Then we went to the bathroom and after went looking for Buggy that could take us to the hotel entrance. No one offered to escort us which was also strange considering we arent the hotel guests.
To summarize i wouldnt recommend. Saffron at Banyan tree offers much better food quality, better service and muuuch better ambience and is also a little...

My dinner at Sri Trang, located at the stunning Phulay Bay, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, was truly unforgettable. A big shoutout to R and her colleague, who were absolutely fantastic! Their warm and attentive service made the evening even more special.
The restaurant offers breathtaking views that set the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing evening. The food was incredible—authentic southern Thai cuisine made with super fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I really appreciated the sustainable approach behind it all. The dishes are served family-style, which added a nice, traditional touch to the experience.
And I can’t forget to mention the mango sticky rice—it was absolutely delicious, one of the best I’ve ever had! Every bite was perfectly balanced and a great way to end the meal.
If you’re looking for an authentic Thai dining experience in an elegant setting with top-notch service, Sri Trang is a must. I can’t...
Read moreClassical Thai food in Phulay Bay Ritz Carlton Reserve. Loved the grilled chicken, chilli sea bass, stir fried spinach with egg, and Thai fried rice. The southern Thai curry chicken was the best dish even though it was extremely spicy. The yellow curry crab was ok but the dry curry crab was not up to my standard. It was very watery compared to the versions I ate in BKK (they were creamy). Why was it named “dry” when it was watery? As for the dessert, my wife loved the water chestnut but I don’t really like the bua loy, rice dumplings in coconut milk. The dumplings were too chewy, I prefer them soft. Please note that we didn’t try all these dishes in one go but over several days in our stay...
