Yuanbao in Krabi gives a unique experience with its Thai-Chinese dim sum, which has a distinct local twist compared to the traditional Cantonese dim sum commonly found in Hong Kong. The highlight is the abundant use of local seafood, featuring dishes like giant shrimps with roe, fish eggs, and crab shell filled with minced crab meat. For those new to this style, the format is self-service: after choosing a table and noting the number, you grab a tray and explore a variety of dim sum dishes at the counter.
Alongside the dim sum, there’s a complimentary bar with fresh vegetables and herbs, allowing you to customize your selections. The liu sha bao (custard bun) we had was really good with generous flowy custard filling. The layout is spacious, with plenty of room to navigate, and they even provide a hand-washing station with laundered towels—a thoughtful touch. Beverage options are plentiful, and the meal includes a pot of Chinese tea, rounding out the dining experience. For other dishes like fried dim sum, porridge, or noodles, you can order directly from the waitress, adding more options to the already diverse selection. Do visit early as the popular items run out...

It serves Chinese and Thai dishes and a very wide and good range of seafoods. The layout is unique with outside seating (fans) and inside with aircon; giving a different ambiance from a usual restaurant. The staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful; while service is fast and efficient. The food is very good and the price is on a higher mid-range. Guarded parking is...

Or maybe you help yourself? Nobody tried to explain). We tried asking another foreign couple if they knew what they should be doing there, and they said they had been ignored by the staff for 20 minutes already, and had no idea how they were supposed to go about getting food. We decided it felt like an unwelcoming, cliquey kind of place that can't be bothered to spend the effort to welcome...
