Lerdtip Restaurant is an absolute gem, serving up an incredible spread of Thai-Chinese dishes that left me speechless. We ordered several dishes, including the Crab Red Curry, Pork with Green Chilli, Olive Fried Rice, Oyster Omelette, and Seafood Hor Fun.
The Crab Red Curry was a prepared well, packed with deep seafood richness and layers of spice that paired beautifully with rice. It was rich, aromatic, and had the perfect balance of heat and sweetness.
The Oyster Omelette was something I had never seen before—an overwhelming oyster-to-omelette ratio, served on a hot plate, with Chef Gigg stir-frying it right in front of us. The sheer abundance of plump, fresh oysters made it a dish to remember. The Pork with Green Chilli was equally impressive. Despite being lean, the pork remained tender and paired perfectly with the fragrant, spicy green chilli.
But the true pièce de résistance was the Seafood Hor Fun, where we opted for River Prawns and Codfish. The wok hei (smoky charred aroma) was incredibly intense, with chewy noodles coated in a rich, umami-filled gravy. The codfish was cooked to perfection, encased in a delicate, crispy batter while remaining tender inside. The river prawns were fresh and bursting with tomalley, adding even more depth of flavour.
This restaurant absolutely deserves five stars, yet I noticed its Google rating was only 3.8. After investigating, it was clear that most of the negative reviews were from over five years ago or unrelated to the restaurant. Based on my visit, Lerdtip serves top-tier Thai-Chinese cuisine, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an...
Read moreWe absolutely loved everything that was served. We ordered the seafood vermicelli, Kai Lan (Chinese kale), crab with red curry, pork with green chili, olive rice, oyster and eggs and last but not least — the hor fun with river prawn and snow fish.
The ultimate star was the hor fun. The gravy was consistent, it was not too watery. The wok hey was strong. The snow crab was cooked to perfection. It’s not easy to deep fry a snow crab. It was battered well, it didn’t feel too oily and it had a good crunch to it. The river prawn was fresh, it was bouncy and a nice bite to it. Who would have known to pair hor fun with snow fish!
The olive rice is worth mentioning. It was cooked with cashews. It had a depth of flavour. It was fragrant, and boy I would order this again.
The pork with green chili — I believe it’s called lemon pork. The green chili sauce, I believe it was home made. And it added a nice kick to it to the pork. Again it was cooked to perfection.
The rest of the dishes were so good as well. But these were my top three favourites.
Chef Gigg was around and he was tirelessly serving us. He also recommended us how to eat it. He was so lovely and kind to us.
On a separate note — prior to my visit here, I was wondering why the reviews were only at 3.8. After much investigation, it appears that there were a lot of irrelevant low reviews and comments that contributed to the low score.
We will definitely make a visit again and again! This is definitely a saved location on my Bangkok...
