Ocean Kitchen — Restaurant in Mai Khao

Avoid.

Overpriced food, bad service only nice thing is the view and that you can get elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. More below.

Food: Says Mediterranean cuisine but literally not one item is, unless you count pizza. Order pesto pasta, could have been boxed pasta wasn’t even fully cooked. Burger under cooked.

The calamari was definitely not cooked it was too tough to eat. Shrimp basic at best and way too expensive.

Ordered a fruit drink, had to request for it 3 times got it the last 10 minutes of dinning. When it came my husband said it was like they took old fruit and mixed it together.

Ordered a watermelon juice for our toddler, it came out as just a chunky drink. Not good to give to a kid and took 30 min.

Service:

Not sure why it was so bad, there was literally 4 tables and 4 servers. Easy night, right?

We are guests at the hotel and briefly visited the restaurant to get tap water earlier in the day but tonight we had to pay for it.

When the server came she poured half the water in one cup, half in another, and left the other two diners with nothing when it could have been easily distributed across all 4. Then said, “you want to order another?” lol no thanks lady, when we got it free earlier and now being charged and you can’t figure out how to split, no we don’t want another.

One waiter seemed to be trying but not enough. Place is empty so these mess up shouldn’t be allowed.

Hope they get their act together or they will really get...

This is one of three restaurants at the resort. We ordered three dishes. The first dish was good. It was the fish and chips. There are two fish options. I chose the sea bass. There were three options on how to prepare the chips. I chose the option with paprika. I will give the first dish a 4 out of 5 stars. The second dish we ordered was the chicken quesadilla. It was my favorite of the three dishes. I will give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. The taste was fantastic but the quality of preparation was not perfect. The last dish we ordered was the nachos. I will give this one a 2 out of 5 stars. It was a basket of tortilla chips with three small dishes of sides. Very nice restaurant located inside Le méridien hotel in Phuket.

The restaurant is an open restaurant overlooking the swimming pool and beach of Mai Khao.

The menu is Mediterranean cuisine

The staff is friendly and polite

The food was nice and tasty, well served size and fast

However the service can be improve, all the dishes preferred ( appetizers and mains) arrived at the same time.Main were ravioli pasta which is always best to eat just after cooking. Not to let them rest before eating. I see other tables around where many dishes ( appetizers and mains) were served all in the same time. Not sure if this is a common habit however better to ask customer if this is what they want.

Other than the service improvement, all good, go there for a nice and tasty Mediterranean...
