Charging 17% on top of menu price - without stating the exclusions in the menu. We ate here today, and enjoyed the food and the draft beer although it was in general too salty for our taste. BUT when the bill was presented to us a 10% service and 7% tax = 17% was added to the menu prices - although no exclusions are mentioned in the menu (photos of 1st and 2nd page document that).

We are eating out 5-6 times a week, and this was first time out of several hundred that we experienced a restaurant simply charging on top without notifying.

One single time we have experienced the exclusion mentioned just on the front page, while normally mentioned on each and every menu page (well, most usually those items are actually included).

After complaining to the poor staff the owner came along and we eventually, under protest, paid the 7% tax but no service. Of course it was not a pleasant moment...

I like us all to FIGHT AGAINST this very bad business behaviour, so I hope that all future visitors follow suit and not just swallow the extra 17% charge but, perhaps during the ordering, ask about this and straighten it out.

Edit: After reading Owner's reply I just have to reiterate that charging for tax (or service, or electricity, or other expenses) is not acceptable when not notifying customer at time of ordering. Actually I'm pretty sure it's ILLEGAL.

Let me add that I find it strange that nobody have mentioned your bad practice in other reviews. Could that be because you have introduced it very recently, or is this practice perhaps implemented only towards some customers (thus...

Enjoyed the lunch at ‘The Witches Brew’ for two consecutive days. On the first day, I arrived early at 1000, but they welcomed us despite the kitchen not opening until 1100. The friendly and accommodating staff offered an air-conditioned room, where we passed the time playing chess. Their menu boasts a fantastic variety of Asian and Western dishes.

This place certainly has a quirky appearance, adorned with witch-themed decor, but it’s a delightful spot to relax and catch up with friends. The seating is incredibly comfortable, the atmosphere is unique, and the selection of teas and coffees is astonishing. We tried the recommended beef stew, German pork knuckle, beef lasagna, and chicken quesadilla. The food was freshly prepared, beautifully presented, and accompanied by various sauces and side dishes. On the second day, we returned and ordered the tomahawk pork chop and beef burger. It was well worth the wait, as the portions were generous and exceptional.

The service and hot drinks were excellent. The witch-themed props are scattered throughout the restaurant, providing great photo opportunities. They also offer a wonderful selection of wine, draught beers, and cakes. The restaurant manager even invited us to their Saturday night party, which promises to be a fun event to celebrate ‘Halloween’ day. So, if you’re reading this, be sure to check out this place.

We will certainly return for lunch on our next trip...

We have passed this place several times and it always looked fun and lovely. Finally popped in last night because it was time for some good old fish’n’chips. It was a quiet Sunday and we took a chance but the food was really, really good. Fish and chips was excellent, huge piece of fish, nice crispy beer batter, beautifully cooked, fresh even for a Sunday, fries (I say that because they were actually crispy and hot unlike most “chips”) were delicious, peas were lovely, fresh with a touch of mint, and the tartar was outstanding. Totally surpassed expectations. Also ordered the curry chicken burger which was also delicious, a tad sweet but otherwise nearly perfect. Lots of fun, proper condiments to go along with the burger and fries theme. Very cool atmosphere as well, only reason for 4 star on atmosphere is because the music was awful, but typical of upscale Thai restaurants these days. You’d think a place called the Witches Brew would have a bit of rock and roll, maybe some Stones or ANYTHING lively, but it was the usual, insufferable shopping mall soft pop covers. Would probably keep us from coming back. Staff were excellent though as well. Great choice if you want excellent Farang food with a side of really boring music. Maybe we’ll try a weekend night...
