Baan Pee Lek Restaurant — Restaurant in Nong Bon Subdistrict

We wanted to find a little local restaurant near our hotel and came across Baan Pêe Lek onot TripAdvisor. It is down an ally, out of town, we used Uber to ride there as the taxi drivers did not know where it was (the restaurant is on Google maps). It was a national Buddhist holiday when we visited and no alcohol was being served. There was a bustling atmosphere in the restaurant, there were quaint little chandeliers and a pianist tickled the ivories in the corner, the live music and muted lighting gave a very "french rustic chic bistro" feel to the place.

It was very busy, we waited to be seated but no one came so we found our own table and observed the locals.

The restaurant was under staffed and there was a number of uncleared tables as the waitresses struggled to keep up with demand.

We speak a little Thai, but the waitresses speak no English and they struggled to understand our order. Interesting the menu had no prices, some photos of the food showed the cost of the meals, most did not. One menu had some English descriptions.

We ordered the Massaman curry and it was one of the best we have ever tasted, we also ordered some of the chicken and French fries and they were not so good. Definitely stick to ordering the Thai dishes. Portion size was large and we had to get the left overs as "takeaway".

We spoke to the owner, she spoke reasonable English and was very friendly, we even got a complimentary pineapple desert.

Our final bill for 2 large mains, 2 waters and one starter was 1000 bhat, - not cheap, but we did enjoy the experience and the contrasts of Baan Pêe Lek and other traditional thai eateries.

วันนี้ก็คุยกับเพื่อนระหว่างนั่งทำธุระแถวพระราม2อยากกินอาหารไทยกินอะไรดี (คำถามยอดฮิต) เวลาประมาณ 16:00โมง เพื่อนก็เสนอ บ้านพี่เล็ก ไหม ผมก็เออเอาสิ่ แต่เห็นเพื่อนเคยลงรีวิวว่ามาร้านนี้รอนานมาก 2 ชั่วโมง (แต่เอาเถอะ) ลองดู วันนี้วันธรรมดา คนไม่น่าจะเยอะ และตอนนี้ พึ่งจะ 4โมง ก็ต้องโทรจองสิครับ

เพื่อน : คนเยอะไหมครับ อยากจองสักประมาณ 17:00 - 17:30 ครับ ร้านพี่เล็ก : ได้ค่ะ จองได้เลยนะคะ คนไม่เยอะ

หลังจากนั้นก็ขับรถมาเรื่อย ยังคุยกันบนรถอยู่เลย วันนี้น่าจะโอเคนะ คนไม่เยอะ อาหารไม่น่าจะต้องรอนาน

ถึงร้านประมาณ 17:15 ทันทีที่ถึง 💯รีบเดินเข้าร้านสิครับ ระหว่างทาง มองลูกค้าโต๊ะอื่น ประมาณ 2-3โต๊ะ อาหารขึ้นโต๊ะพร้อมรับประทานแล้ว (เสียงในใจ) วันนี้วันของเรา รอไม่นาน👍

เริ่มต้นด้วย

1️⃣ เมนูแนะนำพิเศษที่หน้าปก

โต๊ะเรา : ขาหมูต้มพะโล้ที่นึง ครับ

พนักงาน1 : เมนูนี้ไม่มีค่ะ

2️⃣ ต่อมาที่เมนูแนะนำ

โต๊ะเรา : หมูสับทอดปลาเค็ม แตกต่าง งบห่อใบยอ ยังไงครับ

พนักงาน2 : งบห่อใบยอ เหมือน ไส้อั่ว

โต๊ะเรา : ขอบคุณครับ แนะนำแบบนี้ขอรับทั้ง 2 อย่างทั้ง หมูสับทอดปลาเค็ม และ งบห่อใบยอ เลยนะครับ

หลังจากนั้นก็สั่งไปเรื่อยๆ (ตามรูปบิล)

เรื่อง สำคัญอยู่ตรงนี้ ❗️❗️❗️❗️ อาหารจานแรก(มัสมั่นซี่โครง)ลงโต๊ะ 17:45 น. อาหารอื่น ลงตามมาต่อเนื่อง อาหารจานรองสุดท้าย (งบห่อใบยอ)ลงโต๊ะ 18:02 น.

ระหว่างนั้น ผมดันตาดีขึ้นมา 👀เห็นโต๊ะข้างๆ คุณโน๊ต ที่จองไว้ 18:00 น. ตามป้ายเขียนจอง มี หมูสับปลาเค็มมาวางบนโต๊ะ แต่ยังไม่มีคนมา ผมเลยเกิดคำถาม

โต๊ะเรา : ขอโทษครับ เห็นหมูสับปลาเค็มลงอยู่โต๊ะนั้น พอดีผมก็มีสั่งไปเหมือนกัน แต่ยังไม่ได้รับครับ ไม่ทราบว่าลงผิดโต๊ะหรือป่าวครับ เห็นลงมาสักพักใหญ่แล้ว

พนักงาน1 : เดี๋ยวเช็คให้นะคะ

โต๊ะเรา : ได้ครับ

พนักงาน1 : ไม่มีในบิลนะคะ ได้สั่งไว้หรือเปล่าคะ

โต๊ะเรา : สั่งครับ สั่งเป็นเมนู แรกเลยครับ

พนักงาน1 : ได้ค่ะ

โต๊ะเรา : ถ้าจานนั้นเป็นของโต๊ะนั้นไม่เป็นไรนะครับ ทำให้ผมใหม่ทีครับ

พนักงาน1 : ได้ค่ะ เดี๋ยวทำให้ใหม่ค่ะ รอสักครู่นะคะ

ไม่เกิน 5 นาที

❌❌❌ พนักงานหนุ่มรอยสักเต็มแขน : (เดินมาพร้อมหน้าตาหาเรื่อง) สรุปสั่งหรือไม่สั่ง เอาไม่เอา ข้างในเขาทะเลาะกันแล้วเนี่ย

โต๊ะเรา : (ในใจกูผิดอะไร ได้แต่คิดแล้วก็สงสัย🔈) ผมสั่งเมนูแรกเลยเห็นเป็นเมนูแนะนำ

พนักงานหนุ่มรอยสักเต็มแขน : ไม่มีในบิล วางจานแทบจะโยนให้ ช้อนที่วางบนจานล่วง (ในใจคิด นี่กูขอแดกอยู่หรือป่าว ไม่ได้สั่งได้ไง ทวงไป2รอบ)

จนกระทั่งและถึงเวลาเรียกเก็บเงิน

และแล้วบิลก็มา (ตามรูป)ครับ

สุดท้ายนี้ผมอยากทราบครับ

1.ไหนบอกไม่มีในบิล? ผมไม่ได้สั่ง ? แล้วที่เขียนมาบรรทัดแรกเลย ? 2.ถ้าผมเป็น นักรีวิวอาหาร หรือ คนมีชื่อเสียง...

Went for quick lunch and I would say a bit more than what I was looking to spend for a quick lunch...so a bit pricy but we quickly figured out why. Well, they have been in that quiet neighbohood for 27 year!! So must be doing something right and that thing they are doing very well is simply good authentic tasting food in their own unique twists just about every dish...down to a simple tofu and mince pork soup. The spices are highly accented in each dish in Thai (Tueng Prik Tueng King). Try their pineapple baked fried rice, you'll see what I mean. Great hidden gem litterally hidden in an old neighborhood. Try it but watch your pocket...
