Non Tum Laek — Restaurant in Nonthaburi City Municipality

As the saying goes, go where the crowd is. A few years ago, I was wandering around Bangkok by the Chao Phraya River Express. At this eatery, there was a long line of people queuing for Sum Thum. I too joined the crowd to buy the food and indeed the Sum Thum with pickled crabs was delicious.

Today, I was wandering around again using the Chao Phraya Boat Express to the last station at Nonthaburi Pier. I was hoping to find the same eatery at the road junction, and in deed its there. I had mango sum thum with pickled crabs, roasted pork with lotus shoots, and ordered what people had and the food...

They sell variety of food; fish, prawn, pork, chicken, crab, squid, muscle, etc. You can pick condition of food like raw/cook prawn, cook/raw/fermented crab, spicy soup, fried fish. Mostly they sell E-SARN food with sticky rice, glass noodle. The restuarant has 2 floors with tiny space, you may have to wait for a while. You can take food home or eat there and park your car around 500 meter away from the restaurant. They use small hoist to deliver food to 2nd floor. All waitresses are friendly...

Most of dishes were sweet flavor based even grilled chicken and grilled pork neck with honey or sugar coated.

Thai papaya salad was a basic item but again sweet and sour (not from fresh lime) which can taste from tongue pallet. Corn was not fresh from corn on the cob.

Only nice was sticky rice which soft and chewy.

Once is fine but...
