Had experienced this wonderful garden oasis and restaurant on two occasions. The first time we sat inside and had five star service and an amazing food extravaganza of recommended dishes including the pomelo salad , grilled prawns and a combination Isaan assortment platter.
Second visit we sat outside and it was completely like being in another restaurant. Service was slightly better inside but it was well worth it to be across the pond out in the deck in front of the river filled with lilies and plant life. We felt they really gave us privacy. There are was only one other small group eating outside so we fly like we were being served in our own garden as we starred out at the peaceful river.
A very elegant woman came by to ask us how everything was. We ended up talking with her for an hour. She was a very well spoken Thai woman who’s family had owned the property and restaurant for many years. We shared food stories as I have had the pleasure of doing tastings at the James Beard house in NY with the Julia Childs of the cooking and food writers. She told us the fascinating history About the property and restaurant and all the changes over the years. At one point it was a farm growing fruits and vegetables that had been wiped out by flooding. This place is a dream restaurant Michelin star and well deserving. Excellent food, wonderful gardens that are incredibly maintained and an elegant owner who passion for food and a zest for life. We also shared stories of philanthropy and her love of giving back to community. Well done. We shall meet again. The chefs are superb and the backdrop makes it truly memorable. We shall visit again for the next special occasion. A perfect setting for a...
Read moreWe found this place on social media to be a nice restaurant with Michelin stars. We invited our father, who was 82 years old and had just arrived from the United States, to join us for lunch. We called first a day before to make sure that we got the air-conditioned room, as our father has difficulty walking. He always needs a walker. The receptionist assured us that we could get a seat inside the air conditioned room. The food was very delicious. They deserved to get the Michelin stars. The view was great. You can smell the fresh air. I recommend this place to all tourists and locals because they have, I think, the best, if not one of the best, food in the city. I could easily give this 5 stars, except for one of the servers. While we were approaching slowly, because our father cannot walk far, he wanted to guide us to a very far location. We understand that maybe he wanted to show us the view or he just wanted to serve us. But we told him that we called for an air-conditioned room, but he insisted that there were no available seats inside. Our father had to walk a little bit far and was sweating when we arrived at our table. Going there was so tiring for him, can you imagine going back? And when we got the bill, the server always reminded us that there was no service charge included in the bill. Well, this was only a very little discomfort. If you don't mind walking, then that place is fantastic.
Having said that, Suan Thip restaurant is good, the food is delicious, and it really deserves another Michelin star. Just maybe a little more training on the staff regarding human connection.

Read moreA fantastic dinner with the best Thai food I've ever had. If you've always been put of Michelin starred placed due to the price you're going to be delighted with Suan Thip as it's very affordable. But the food is incredible. Just the pad thai and tom yum alone were the best I'd ever had, you could tell it was freshly prepared, and the flavours popped. However, the two stand outs were the chicken curry with fried flat bread, and an appetiser called Miang Ka Na (definitely get this as it can be shared with multiple people). The staff were friendly and attentive, and they helped by showing us how to eat two of the dishes (wrapping the Miang Ka Na and the best sides with the curry) which was most appreciated. The setting is gorgeous (river front, lots of different areas outside to sit, 'colonial'-ish style house) and while we were able to appreciate it at night we'd come back during the day next time. It was a 35min taxi ride there but 100% worth it. To give you an idea just how affordable this place is we ordered 1 appetiser, 3 mains, 2 desserts and 4 drinks (various iced teas). There was enough food for 3 people (or two very hungry ones) and the total bill was less than I'd pay for the equivalent amount of bog-standard Thai take away back in Oz...
