Krua Nay Ang — Restaurant in Phang-nga Province

Escape from tourist restaurants and experience some real cooking at this gem of a restaurant. The owner really cares about his food and it's great to see the busy kitchen as you enter. Their grilled beef appetiser, crispy pork or fried fish are exceptional. Adding to the usual favourites there are traditional Thai hotpots and many dishes not on the English language menu are available if you ask. Also food can be prepared with less spice or none at all if desired. The Tom Yum Goong is another special with shell on prawns. We found it hard to get good authentic Thai food in Khao Lak, but here the food is great for Thais, locals also come here, as well as tourists. Their som tam dishes are great, the fried rice tastes great (I am very picky about fried rice because oftentimes there is no wok taste, and prefer the more simple style but well made and not too oily). Grilled chicken, fried seafood such as Calamari, white prawns, were all great, full of flavour! Went here for dinner after a long day driving around the province. The place has a mix of both Thai and foreign customers and was quite busy when we got there around 8pm. Unfortunately, they were already out of grilled chicken, but that was no problem. We were blown away by the quality of good. Everything we ordered was incredibly tasty, well presented. There's both an English and a Thai menu, however the Thai menu seemed to have a few more items. Service was superb, very friendly and quick. Nice atmosphere and fair prices....
