Memories Beach Bar — Restaurant in Phang-nga Province

Instructor very friendly and professional. But they hired the kids who don’t speak English at all and every time surf board rental price is different and confusing. ( no price list) which cause a lot of misunderstanding.

They gave us wrong lower price first time, and then 2nd time the kids claimed we said we are friends of manager to get this price, which is not true! We didn’t say that! And the manager is very upset! We are too! (please ask another Thai instructor we asked for translation) I understood the kids felt guilty to admit the mistake. Yet it is unfair to us. One week ago we took surf lesson and the instructor said we could use the board for one hour free and then another guy at reception said no. You only get discount for the day u took lesson, not free! And said they just have meeting about this! What?!?! It’s a super nice surfing place you provide. Please put a price list and someone speak English to help...

Wow 😳 we didn’t expect that. This place is tucked away off the main road. The dirt road back to this place is windy and bumpy. We didn’t know what we were going to find, but we saw cars exiting this road the night before.

We stopped in on the way back to our resort and when we cleared the trees way back nearer to the beach, it was super crowded. There is a whole complex of shops, bungalow, and a restaurant. An Aussie/Thai was giving surfing lessons on the beach as we walked through this compound.

When we finally reached the beach, it was full of surfers. A pretty good mix of Thai and foreigners. Many of the car plates indicated they came from Bangkok or Phuket. I thought it was a surfer colony at first, and I may not have been far off.

I love this place. One of Khaolaks hidden little secrets. A little bit “off the beaten track” but a must see if in the area. Great beach with surfing and a real party atmosphere. The rustic "old style Thailand" feel and look of the bungalows, common areas etc... is no doubt one of the major draws for tourists and locals alike that come here every year. This place gets quite busy in the high season as an "escape" from the standard tourist beaches in the area. This place is "THE CHILL SPOT" !

The coastline provides the ideal geographic features for surfing. This is one of the only places in all Khao Lak where the waves come in to shore in long sets ideal for surfing. Memories is a must visit place and rates in my top 10 of the best places in Khao Lak and area. Keep up the great...
