We arrived as a group of 6 adults and 5 children at the restaurant in JW Marriott with friends. We had been there twice before and had recommended it to our friends because the food was overall tasty during our previous visits. However, last night, I'm not sure what went wrong, but the restaurant simply did not deliver. It took over an hour to get our food, not everyone received their meals at the same time, and when the food finally arrived, it was not tasty—dry and unappetizing. The kids were already upset because of the wait, and only two main courses were served initially. We finished eating, but our friends didn’t receive their meals for another half hour. The staff was confused and uncommunicative throughout the entire evening, and even when we left, no one said goodbye. Although the chef came out and tried to be polite, it was clear that he didn't fully grasp the situation. This was definitely the last time we'll be dining at this restaurant, and it’s disappointing that such a subpar experience occurred at a luxury hotel. We paid for everything, and not a single dish was comped. In the end, we were given desserts, but I won’t even go into detail about those.
We are very disappointed with this evening. We spent two and a half hours there, most of which was waiting for food. The service, the food, and the overall experience were dreadful. We won’t be coming back, nor will we recommend this place to others. It was a terrible experience and left a bad taste in our mouths—literally and...

The italian restaurant Olive is located on the grounds of JW Marriott Khao Lak. It has a large guest room, an open kitchen with pizza oven and as a special eye-catcher, parts of the floor are visually appealing and interesting with Escher effects.
The oven is additionally fired here with coconut wood, which in turn is responsible for the special taste of the pizza.
Olive's chef is Enzo - a real Italian whose family is involved in "dough business" since generations - you can say pasta & pizza is "in his blood". Pizza in the Olive could not taste better either in Palermo, Rome or the Italian Riviera - it probably tastes even better here ... 😉
In the Olive there are some Italian food from regions of the country that are otherwise rarely served - the large fridge in the restaurant houses some special cheese & sausage specialties and the wine fridge is neatly stocked - there is Mollydooker!
The service was excellent, courteous, nimble and forward-looking, always friendly and above all multilingual.
Well I found that here in the selection of mineral waters not only San Pellegrino, but also the French Badoit was - a water with low carbonation, but a unique soft taste.
As a starter, fresh bread with baked and caramelized garlic was served, followed by a few very tasty bruschetta to switch further to the appetizers.
Here we had grilled octopus and a carpaccio with truffles and balsamic pearls - both delicious.
The main courses were an Australian ribeye medium rare with Parmesan on a arugula bed and a fine lobster ragout.
At the end we shared three kinds of sorbet - the homemade passion fruit sorbet was my favourite- plus a small selection of the Italian dessert top five - but then there was no room left in our stomachs...
If you are in the vicinity, drop by at the Olive - book a nice table in advance and enjoy the...
Read moreThe two of us came to celebrate my husband’s birthday. It’s beautiful inside, with soft music playing. Loved the complimentary focaccia but why serve 3 pieces of tiny bread when there are two of us. However, the focaccia and roasted garlic were really delicious. Watery tomato gunk was not. We asked the waiter twice what it was but we couldn’t understand what he said. Thankfully they did serve more focaccia when asked.
Fantastic pizza. Better than what I expected. Crispy fluffy crust and sufficient meat but could have added more. One slice had zero meat. Would have expected a bit more spicy heat from the meat on a Diavola, so we had to add chilli oil and chilli flakes.
The birthday fruit plate was nice but seemed a bit cheap for a 5 star hotel and for what you’re paying. Other restaurants would serve a birthday cake slice or in Thailand, at least mango sticky rice.
Service was a bit slow, the wrong water was brought out but pleasant enough.
Would return and would recommend…maybe I’ll bring my own cake for...
